     Terms and Conditions

As long as first balance transfer is completed within 6 months of date of account opening, the balance transfer APR is 0% for 6 months from the date of the first balance transfer. After the promotional period, your standard APR for purchases will be applied to all remaining balance transfer amounts. As of December 1, 2002, the standard variable APR for purchases is 14.24%. The standard variable APR for cash advances is 19.99%. However, if you default under any Card Agreement that you have with us, we may immediately increase the APR on all balances (including any promotional balances) to a variable default rate of 24.24%. The minimum finance charge is $.50. The transaction fee for cash advances is 3% of the amount of each cash advance, but not less than $5. The transaction fee for balance transfers is 3% of the amount of each balance transfer; minimum of $5 and $50 maximum. However, there is no balance transfer fee for balances transferred in response to this offer. The annual membership fee is $20, however the annual fee is waived in the first year. After that, the annual fee is waived if the card is used 9 or more times a year for Shell gasoline purchases.

    Rebate Terms and Conditions
The Shell MasterCard Rebate Program is a program of Citibank (South Dakota), N.A. ("we" or "us"). Rebates are earned by making purchases with your Shell MasterCard. You earn rebates of five percent (5%) on purchases of Shell gasoline (excluding diesel and aviation fuel) at Shell locations within the United States ("Shell Purchases"). You earn rebates of one percent (1%) on all other purchases of goods and/or services ("Non-Shell Purchases") made with your Shell MasterCard. All rebates earned will be reflected on your billing statement and will be automatically redeemed by applying the rebates as a credit against Shell Purchases made in subsequent billing cycles. Your Shell Purchases will be listed separately from all other transactions on your billing statement, and the rebate amount that is credited against those purchases will be reflected on your billing statement. Purchases returned for credit do not earn a rebate and your balance will be adjusted (including rebates already redeemed) in the event that the purchase is returned or a credit adjustment is otherwise issued. Your account must remain open and be in good standing in order to earn and redeem rebates. Rebates are not earned on cash advances, balance transfers, fees, finance charges or other ancillary fees. Rebates are redeemed in the order they are earned. Any rebates not redeemed within twelve monthly billing cycles after the billing cycle in which they are earned will expire. All unused rebates expire upon termination of your Shell MasterCard account, whether terminated by you or us. Rebates are not considered your property and cannot be bought, sold, transferred or bartered in any way. Rebates are not redeemable in cash and do not create a credit balance on your account. Rebates cannot be used to make payments on your account. We reserve the right to cancel, terminate or otherwise change the terms of the Shell MasterCard Rebate Program at any time without notice. We reserve the right to interpret and apply the policies and procedures relating to the Shell MasterCard Rebate Program and all such determinations by us shall be final and conclusive in any case. The Shell MasterCard Rebate Program and/or any of its individual elements are void where prohibited by federal, state or local law. We may take appropriate administrative or legal action, including the cancellation of your account, in the event of any fraud or abuse in connection with the Shell MasterCard Rebate Program. We are not responsible for disputes relating to rebates between joint account holders and/or authorized users. You are solely responsible for making any determinations regarding the tax consequences of any rebates you receive pursuant to the Shell MasterCard Rebate Program.

one of their employees told me that after january 31st if you already have a citi card (not citi usa or associates) you can ask that it be converted to a shell mastercard.

    But the new freedom card?

I like it! 5% off shell gas was nice, but shell gas was usually 3-4% more than most other stations.

I can practically always find a diamond shamrock or citgo station that's significantly cheaper than shell. Add a 5% gas rebate onto that, and I am one happy customer.

Kudos, shell, for actually making the card better (at least for me) with the transition!

ACK, I meant to give kudos to Chase, not Shell.

Kind of changes the whole meaning of my post, eh??

Re: Shell MC vs Chase Freedom Card!

Yup - you're right on that.

The new card from Chase is a pretty good deal - get your gas as cheap as you can find it, then take off 5%.

Shell/Citi is a nice offer, certainly better than Citi/Exxon or Citi/BP (3%) but if the gas is already at a premium price, all you're accomplishing is reducing it via rebate to the "cheap gas" price.

I really like Shell- I am boycotting ExxonMobil- but I don't think I like them 10% better...

    Premium gas... last weekend
    Shell - 1.79/gal - 5% = 1.70
    Citgo - 1.62/gal - 5% = 1.53
    = 10% savings

I think Chase just kept a card account active and Shell lost a customer. Too bad they couldn't play in the sandbox nicely together.

I like Chase Freedom Card because they let you any brand of gasonline instead of Shell gas like Shell Mastercard. I can get rid of gas card like ExxonMobil Gas Card (no rebate), Shell Credit Card (no rebate), Diamnond Shamrock (no rebate) and ExxonMobil Mastercard into one.
