Hi:)....My mom loaned a co-worker $500. All she has is a printed email from the women saying she'd pay my mom back. She got fired and won't answer my moms calls. Anyone ever went to small claims and sued anyone. We know chances are my mom will never get her money. But this women knows nothing about repairing credit so at least, she'll have that public record on her credit for 7 years. I just need some opinions about how to do this right. I told my mom to send a couple letters CRRR to the lady asking that she pay the money back. That way the Judge will know my mom made an attempt to get the money back. But after that Then what? Anyone ever been through this? How does it work at small claims anyways? Thanks:)

If the lady was to pay her back and has missed the due date, just go file the lawsuit. Don't bother sending demand letters. Chances are the lady won't respond to it and you will get a default judgment. Then you'll have the fun of trying to collect. Unless you know where the lady banks or where she works if she gets a new job, you'll never collect.

There was never was an "offical" date to pay it back....this was a loan between friends. We're pretty positive my mom will never get her money from the girl. But my said she'd feel better knowing she at least attempted to get it back:) Thanks
