Sony/Citi MC ... any opinions?

Calling all of you Citibank experts.

Saw an ad for a Sony cobranded Citibank MasterCard in Sunday's paper. Does anyone know anything about this card? Do you think it's as easy to get?

I know a lot of people had luck with the Citi AAdvantage card, and I'm wondering if people think the Sony card is as easy to get as the AA card. (The Sony rewards are more appealing than the AA rewards.)

I know I can't get either, but my wife could use a MasterCard to go with her LLBean Visa ($200 limit). She also has store cards from Macy's ($800), Victoria's Secret ($500), Chadwick's ($1,000) and Nordstrom ($800).

Her oldest line (Macy's) is about nine months, but all of her lines were opened before she started working. She's debt-free; she pays off her balances each month. While her income is low, our household income is high.

Any guesses what the income/credit history/FICO requirements are for this card? Do you think it's worth a credit inquiry for her to apply?

RE: ya do get the citi AA

Get the silver classic AA advantage mastercard.

you can then change it to a platinum select or sony or dividend.

Keep in mind their affinity cards are 16.9% APR where as their non-affinity are like 5-6% apr lower :)

all of their accounts come with balance transfer, you just have to ask, too.

I don't know ShyGuy. I think it's kind of risky right now. It's just my opinion, but I would have her wait at least a couple months after at several of her tradelines are a year old. She has received 5 cards within 12 months. Her credit history may not be seasoned enough. Good luck whatever you guys decide and keep us informed.

Thanks, Miles. She's not sure what to do. There's a bonus rewards sign-up bonus that's good till the end of March, plus we're hoping to buy a house next April (2002), so we'd like to have her MasterCard -- and the credit inquiry -- be at least a year old then. We'll have to think about it.

    Thanks again.

It is a nice cards to have and fromtime to time they give you triple bonus point or take a survey give 10000 on your Sony Card. Citibank has a very good customer service and auto-pay from checking and you don't have to mail any payments or forgot to pay your bill. Just deposit on your checking account and they deduct it every month. I had Sony Card with Citibank for a year and I had no problems with them.
