I started out with 11 negatives on my TU report in May of this year. For the past two or three months I have only had one remaining.... a collection account for $391. We closed on our house in August and they wanted us to pay this. I refused time and time again. I told them I will not pay something I don't owe. Anyway, I convinced them to put the money in escrow so it is there if the CA takes legal action.
Now on to the surprise!!! This account was originally listed twice on TU and when I disputed it the first time, one stayed on and one dropped off. I tried to dispute in October but they told me it has already been investigated blah blah bla. So now I made one last attempt at this account during CHOD.
The results....
Mailed certified on 12/05/02
Certified received on 12/10/02
Account deleted on 12/13/02!!!!!!!!!!!!
All I said in the letter is that TU verified this account once, but I would like to know how since the company will not respond to me. I asked them to reinvestigate.
I can't believe it. I thought this account was destined to remain a fight. Now TU is squeaky clean!!! The only thing left to do is try to figure out how to get my money back out of escrow.

Re: Strange TU surprise!
DMurphy- Did you use any special letter or prhrase to trigger a re-investigation, since they denied it the first time?
If so, please share.

I don't think I did. :) All I really said was that I don't undertand how they could have verified it with the CA when I can't get the CA to respond to me. I will look back at my letter and try to post it tonight or tomorrow.
