Hi - I just noitced on my TU report that they list a student loan that was bought by someone else. So the loan that I'm paying already exists on my report. But this original owner of the loan is still on there as well. It has a note of "student loan not in repayment". Updated 10/2000 and a balance of $1834. It is listed as "unrated".

What's the deal with this? If someone else bought the loan, shouldn't this line be off my report, or at least show a $0 balance. And what does "student loan not in repayment" mean?

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Kevin

Dispute the original loan. They will list it as closed/transferred. I had this same problem-they had the same loan on there 3 times!

Did it change your score after you had it updated?

Hard to say, because I was disputing other stuff at the time, but yes, because the way mine was reporting it looked like I owed much more than I really did.
