Swiss Colony, Seventh Avenue and Midnight Velvet - all the same company. They are an OC. Has anyone ever dealt with them about collection issues?

I went to their web site. Wow!

I've never dealt with them creditwise.

DH had an account with Seventh Avenue about 6 or 7 years ago. When we started the repair process we found that they were on his credit report listing a balance of about $250 and past due 120 days. We disputed and it came back verified and then we got a letter from them wanting the money. Sent a dv letter even though we know oc's are not required to validate. We then got a response from Seventh Avenue that said they were going to remove the tl because they believed the account was fraudulently opened and they apologized. So, try to send them a dv letter and see what happens.

All I know about them (SWISS COLONY) is that they give you FREE chocolate with an order...

    USUALLY AROUND CHRISTMAS

They ship with payment by check or credit card...how could you owe them money???

Is this some "INTERNAL" credit program???

I guess Swiss Colony must be something like Figis. I ordered holiday gifts a couple times from Figis and they offered a 200 credit line. I havent ordered for a few years and they havent sent a catalog in a while.

CHOOSE 'N CHARGE® CREDIT MAKES ORDERING SO EASY.

Now I will be able to sleep tonight because I know that they offer credit terms...

    GEORGE - I HAVE a CHOOZ n CHARGE ACCT - with I think a $700 limit.
It was PREAPPROVED from a few years back.
It is an internal charge but does not report - unless maybe you are bad.

They gave me a chocolate ChristMOUSE with a purchase.

After seeing this, I went into the site, logged on - then tried to go into "Account Terms"
Asked for my acct number - really did not retain that important paper card they sent last year LOL!

BUT I did look at their premium foods - they have certainly upgraded since a few yrs back when I bought that fruit cake for old Aunt Mabel....

I remember people on the board were laughing last year - saying how many cheesebars and sausage sticks you could get for $700.

I guess they intend it to be seasonal credit. Buy before Christmas and pay off by June...

The fact that they offer their own credit, rather than assigning it to a bank, may make it easier to get concessions on reporting bad accounts...

Interest rate if I bought some Swiss Cheese or Filet Mignon would be 22.5%.

    GEORGE,

You appeared to be interested when you asked the question: "How could you owe them money?"

Then you tried to make fun of the answer when it was offered to you.

It's a real issue for one person on this board. One honest question by someone with a real problem is just as important as 10,000 complaints about your self-inflicted problems with Citibank.

Thanks to those who gave advice - I got these a few years ago when I was out of work (bottoming out of tech sector jobs!)and needed christmas presents. Just wanted to see if anyone had done any validation requests with them.

Make sure they can PROVE you owe money...then offer 30%-50% and see if they BITE...

They probably took a TAX DEDUCTION for the loss...

If they get 50%...they get paid TWICE

They are the absolute worst company to deal with. Purchased a pair of shoes from "Monroe & Main." They were sent without a packing slip. When I returned them, I wrote a letter with all pertinent information which I taped to the top of the shoe box which was packed in another box. The shoes were sent back via UPS. They denied ever receiving them despite the fact that UPS provided proof that the returns department had signed for the package. I spent six months getting increasingly nasty phone calls from their collections department and sending them increasingly nasty letters. They finally said that they received the shoes when I threatened to call my state Atty. General's office.

    Really don't like this company.
