...I am trying to help an Uncle that has a few negative entries on his CR.

    1) In May of 1994, he filed for Chapter 7 Bankrupcy but had it dismissed. So he now has an entry on each bureau that shows something like:

    Federal District Court
    Filing Date: 05-1994
    Balance Amount: >$25200
Account Status: Chapter 7 Bankrupcy Dismissed

Is there an easy way to have this removed? Does a dismissed BK come under 7 or 10 years?

    2) He also has a Tax Lien with the following info:

    Records of Deeds
    Filing Date: 02-1995
    Balance: $5858
Account Status: Release of Tax Lien

Again, would this fall under the category of > 7 years?

I would be very grateful if you could point me in the right direction so we can get this entries removed.

    Very grateful!

If the tax lien was released, it should come off after 7 years. Easy to dispute.

Not sure about a BK that was NOT discharged, but if it was it's supposed to come off after 10 years. I would argue for removal now, and if it doesn't come off, by May of '04 it should.
