Where is the Target Guest Card Application? I see the Target Visa app, and an estatement from Guest Card but no app. Anyone know?

Continue with the regular Visa app; then, near the bottom of the screen, select the radio button that says "Please select if you would like to be considered for the Target Guest Card ONLY."

Otherwise, it'll put you through for the Visa, and give you the Guest card only if you don't qualify for the Visa.

Wajaba what do you think the chances are of getting a Target Guest Card with a non-discharged CH 13 (about 2 years old), 2 good auto accts, a mortgage, and a 685 FICO score?

I want a pretty good idea before risking the inquiry. THis would be my first application in almost 3 years.

I know there is an older post floating around about BK friendly banks and list members experience. I think NanaC originally started the post.

685 is very good...I was approved (not instantly) with a 618-ish score, and that was with a couple of satisfied judgements, a paid repo, and a paid collection. So I would say your chances are pretty good, but don't quote me on that, especially in light of the industry's recent belt-tightening.

    Good luck,

I feel confident enough to apply if the decision was made on score alone. I think the 685 would probably fly. Like you, I have seen lots and lots of people on this board approved with much lower scores. I am just concerned that I will be automatically denied because the BK is not yet discharged, it is still ongoing. That is my concern.

Good point, and I don't really have an answer to that. I would say to call them, but I'm not sure how much good it'll do. Some issuers' phone reps have a pretty in-depth knowledge of their underwriting standards; other phone reps really don't know (or won't tell) what their qualifications are. Target (RNB) seems to be in the latter group, based on my experience.

Lisa, here's the way I see this. If they deny you for the visa because of the bk, chances are they will deny you for the guest card also. Now, if you apply for the visa and are denied, they will automatically consider you for the guest card. So, my suggestion, take a chance and stop trying to figure it out because it is impossible to do. LOL Go for it.

    Apply lisa (and WAVING),

I was approved last month for the guest card, denied the visa, $300 limit but my first approval :) with C13 reporting.

C13 was discharged but isn't reporting as discharged YET, lol.

    Go for it, ka-ching!

They've incredible customer service so far too, there's a perk!

with a 685 you can get a Target visa likely 500 with 18.9 apr no annual fee or a guest card.

You can apply for the visa and they'll auto consider you for the guest card if the visa doesn't fly.

If you get the visa wait a bit and apply for the guest card.

They're both good cards... great customer service... and that'd give you a dept store and a visa ;)

apply apply apply apply apply apply apply :)

Can anyone tell me what is up with this target card. Next to CapOne, Amex and Providian it is like the most talked about cared. Something I'm missing about it? Not that I can get it yet, but you know you gotta have goals. My list of cc goals is Amex, Citi and diner's club and one more. with all the talk of the guest card maybe I should boot diner' s and add target

Well... RNB is a decent bank. No annual fee on either card... no bk filter and easier to get your foot in the door with the guest card than with most dept store cards...

and even with $200 or $300 limit on the guest card... it's TARGET ;) You can buy almost the whole store on $300 ;)

and the Visa used to give huge starting limits (no more... but) still... no annual fee, negotiable annual interest rate... and normal fees...

basically... for rebuilding credit cards.. they're fair and nice and have decent customer service reps and their intent is NOT to rip you off at every turn like most rebuilding cards...

so that's why the talk... when you're low 600s you can get the guest card and mid to high 600s you can get their visa... and again.. they go just by score with no previous bk filter... and so that's huge for those of us who are/have/choose to drop our old subprime rebuilding cards and are trying to go prime...

the only caveat is for rebuilding you need your ratios to show... the guest card doesn't seem to report limit on every cra so you have to max it once... but the visa does show the limit ;).. and yes, I think that's the CRAs choice and not RNBs... but I could be right ;)

Marie thanks so much for the explanation my list is now in this order Target Card, Amex and then Citi. You said they go by score only. So as long as I have a high 600, I should be good. That is future thinking, I will work on it.

In case some of you forgot. To the 600 club: Move get out the way!
    To the the 700 club:
Perfection awaits you, what are you waiting for

    To the rare 800 club:
You have one sole purpose in life, helping the rest of us get where you are.

To all the VETS as always BIG UP and THANK YOU

yep... Amex will want to see solid rebuilding... little derog (or none) and few inquiries...

    Citi is more lenient

    Target seems easiest ;)

Didn't I see that Target pulls Equifax (FICO) only? Did I dream this?

As far as derog go, I am about a year away. I have defaulted student loans I am trying to rehab. As far as inquiries, they stand at 3,2,3. I intend on having zero come time for big old Amex.

Thanks again for your help Marie

Right now, Experian is my best, but after this round of disputes I think equifax will be top dog. as far as TU goes, they are the only one reporting a recent judgement and it has my name and address correct. Any advice on that?

When your Equifax gets around low 600s you can try for Target with a decent chance of approval.

My previous post was for LisaMc... ;)
