    Hi All,

Have just been lurking, but I seen that Target was approving again. So took a chance and was approved for the guest card. I only checked to guest card to improve my chances. Has anyone ever tried the BDD with Target? Let me know cause I may apply for the VISA.

Tryin to keep the MAN'S foot off my neck!

I think your plan may have backfired on you. If you had applied for the Visa and did not meet the requirements, they would have then considered you for the guest card on the same inquiry.

You might call them (888-755-5856), tell them you pressed the wrong button on your computer and that you really meant to apply for the Visa. I don't know if this will work, but maybe you could get them to evaluate you for the Visa on the same inquiry.

    Good luck.

BTW: I like to shop at Mervyn's, so I figured that since RNB had approved me for the Target Visa they would give me a decent limit on a Mervyn's card.

I was approved but for only $250. They pulled the same credit report they did for the Visa (Experian) and my score was higher. When I called to complain I was told "Everyone starts with a $250 limit". I'm not sure if this is really true.

I guess I'm trying to say that if they approved your guest card with a low limit that doesn't mean you wouldn't be eligible for a Visa with a higher limit.

    Well,

I could not resist, I applied for the VISA. I got the old "you still need further processing." So I called the number DaveLV gave to talk to them. The rep told me I was approved for two guest cards! He tried to close one but the computer would not let him. I asked him to combine the limits and give me one card. Get this, he said the would mail both cards and it would be up to me to close one. I applied for the red guest card and the silver visa, so I guess I will get a red and silver guest card. I am almost tempted to keep them both and just charge $20.00 a month and pay them off to keep my limits up, they are both a whopping $200, but I needed another positve line. What do you think?

About 1 1/2 yrs ago, I applied for a Target guest card got a $250.00 limit, each time I used it, I would pay off the balance..after less than 1 year, they sent a pre-approval for their VISA with a $4,000 limit..go figure. My scores were mediocre with a BK 7 in 98, & 3 tax liens showing. Then a few months later got a pre-approval for the Mervyn's card. Thought you'd like to know this.

Annie, how long did you wait before you called?

I called about 20 minutes after I applied. I requested a red card for the guest and a silver for the visa. I guess I have a red and silver guest card coming, LOL!

What was your score range when you applied? My Exp is 627, and my other two lower. I have a BK 7 that was discharged in 98, and a judgement from that same time, that I am disputing because it was in the BK... I dont want to waste another inquiry like I did with the Best Buy card, so I am carefully picking the cards that I apply for...

I think it was 595 on Creditwatch and have no idea about the others. I was applying to get a copy of my equifax report so I could dispute everything and then get approved. So I was very surprised when I was approved.

Well, I decided to go for it....I just applied online, and got the infamous "needs additional processing" message. Probably the nice way of saying you are declined, but I will remain optimistic. Hopefully they pull Exp in NJ, because that is my best report. I have some really good tradelines for the last few years, so hopefully that will convince them to at least give me the guest card. Not that I really want to use it, but according to everyone here, I need more tradelines....Credit is the biggest catch 22 there is...

    Well GMatt,

If you are not approved, get the credit report, dispute everything and then apply again. We call that the "Sam" method, LOL!

I applied online last night and got the same message. I just called right now and the lady says all the computer shows is "your application requires further processing blah, blah, blah! she has no other information! Maybe I'm not calling the right number. Can anyone give me some insight??

This is good to know! I got a funky 200.00 limit in Jan 2002. Due to some customer services problems I closed it. Wrote a PFB letter. They respond very quickly! I got a 100.00 bump for my troubles. Another customer service issue led to another PFB letter I just got a "sorry email" nothing else. I recently got a 200.00 line increase did not ask it was on my last statement. Which goes against all of the crap that the customer service reps told me. So I have gone from 200-500 in 4 months. I haven't paid it off but I do pay more than the minmum the same day I get the bill. Hmmm I wonder what will happen in the next 4.

Just my opinion keep the card and work it, pay it and sooner or later you will get an upgrade or limit increase.
