    Hi,

I just checked my equifax report. There is an acount with the details of my target card (balance, card#, etc.) but is reporting as "Dayton Hudson Operations Ctr" instead of Retailers National Bank like my other reports.

Should I investigate through equifax, or ask target for an explanation?

    Thanks,
    -Roman

    Hi Roman,

I am having the same problem. On top of that, it is not reporting my limit so it looks like my balance and limit are the same. I am under the impression that Dayton is also part of Target. It is also interesting to see how on one of my reports it says Retail National Bank and on Experian it says Dayton for the same Target account. If there was anything that I would (and would advise you too if you have the same problem) have corrected is that they put down the correct limit.

Not that I have a Target card (my sis does), but I do know that they are a member of the Dayton Hudsons' Retail group (includes Marshall Fields...)

    Hope it helps

    Ledo,

From other posts here, it seems that target doesn't report limits, just the high balance.
A solution would be to charge the card close to its limit, and then it will report that as your credit limit.

The inconsistency between reports seems strange though:

    eq - dayton
    ex - retailers
tu - not reporting at all.

It is also reporting with a "charge" comment. WTF?

    Roman,

I didn't realize that. Apparently I have some work to do. Thanks for the heads up.

I have noticed the same difference in names for the Target account on my reports. I don't think that it has any real effect on anything. The thing that's weird with the limits reporting is that Equifax just reports the most I have owed ($614), but TransUnion reports the actual CL ($1000). Not sure about Experian, though.

I think Equifax names some accounts differently, don't know why. Two of my former Household Retail accounts report as Beneficial (the original creditor) on Equifax. On the two reports they report as Household.

    Here's the scoop-

Target Corporation _used_ to be Dayton Hudson Corporation. They changed the name over to Target Corp. since it's the biggest brand they have.

They dropped the Dayton's and Hudson's names (in Minneapolis and Detroit, respectively) for the department stores and now use Marshall Fields for all department stores. They also own Mervyn's California.

Retailers National Bank is a subsidiary of Target Corp.

Any or all of the names (RNB-Target, RNB-TGT VISA, Dayton Hudson Ops Ctr) all refer to the same subscriber code at the bureau - I wouldn't sweat it.

Hope that clears some of the confusion-

PS: did a re-check on my Target / Field's accounts - the Target sub-account of my Field's account (confused yet?) reported a limit accurately-- no other Target or Fields account has reported an accurate limit _until_ the RNB-TGT-Visa started reporting -- that one is OK.

    Anachronistic Names

Some of the CRA's continue to use incredibly anachronistic names. For example, one of the agencies reports my "Chase Master Charge," a name that was changed probably 20 years ago.

Chase Mortgage showed up as Chemical Bank...
