troll: A supernatural creature of Scandinavian folklore, variously portrayed as a friendly or mischievous dwarf or as a giant, that lives in caves, in the hills, or under bridges. (www.dictionary.com) friendly... mischievous... i could live with that
That's cute, but don't trolls cause trouble when they come from under the bridge? LOL Oh, I forgot, I am not saying you do that, I just thought it was funny.............
actually - "under bridges" does sound kind of scary... My sister had these little dolls with impish faces and long hair in different colors - i thought that's what was known as trolls - at least on Long island, New York, in the seventies
same thing in Texas they made a comeback in the 90's, my children gave me two for my birthday back then: boy troll has long blue hair, is riding skateboard/ girl troll has hot pink hair, is on rollerskates
Acutally, they are quite similar to collectors when you think about it..... "Trolls are very greedy and take all the gold and silver they can get. Here in Sweden a common saying about a wealthy person is: "Rich as a Troll". But to find the troll treasure is almost impossible, trolls can make the gold look like something completely different." http://www.morion.com/morion/wood/english/FRAME_english.html click on Trolls on the left panel
I LOVE Stephen King! The Stand was (and still is) one of my all time favorite books. I grew up in Portmouth, NH - and some of it was set there. Also lived in Wells, Maine for awhile and he used that location too. Made it even more interesting.... Gosh - hadn't thought of those troll dolls in years! Often had bright pink or neon green hair. Was one of those things EVERYONE had when I was in junior high! Mommy2cats
Speaking of Steven King, I watched Red Rose last night...it wasn't scary once I covered my eyes. GREAT Movie!!! BTW, mommy2cats, I live in Manchester NH, not that it matters, but there are only two of us from NH.
Wow - I lived my last 15 years in NH in Manchester!! I moved to Arizona three years ago. My family still lives in the area (Dover) so I go back often. Mommy2cats
