    This is the situation -

In 2000 my husband was the victim of fraud, and there were about 10 checks written on his closed account, we did not know until the letters started coming in the mail, one of the places took him to court for passing bad checks( this was only for 2 of them), he told them he did not write the checks and did a handwriting analysis, the analysis, oddly enough, came back inconclusive, my husband had already missed 3 days of work going back and forth to court, he took a plea and pleaded no contest and they charged him with disorderly conduct. We are now trying to clean up his credit to buy a house and we disputed these items with Equifax and Transunion, the 2 he went to court for were deleted from the T CR but E said they verified. So we sent the CA a validation letter and they sent back to us copies of the checks as their validation, and none of these checks were written by him, so my question to you is what do we do next?

Why on earth would he take a plea if he didn't do it? Because of an inconclusive handwriting analysis? Ever think of getting an atty or public defender?

someone close to me was also a victim of fraud by a close person in his life... pretty much when you are a victim, they treat it as if the credit card is the victim, and you end up lost in a vaccuum where there is nothing protecting you (they will realise that the debt is not yours but you will still be penalized for it because SOMEONE has to pay)... but there is HOPE... there is very little you can do for yourself, but if you get an attorney, there is hope...

the person i am speaking of was in a horrible situation and couldn't get a home or car or anything... however, after years of this, he contacted a lawyer and was able to close on a home!!!

BOTTOM LINE---your best bet is working with a lawyer who specializes in this....
