I tried to get inquiries on my TU report deleted per the online challenge available on the TU web page. I also received the letter stating that "we do not remove inquiries." I read that some have had success challenging TU inquiries by phoning in the challenge. What is the MOST RECENT time someone has successfully done this? Any ideas about TU or Equifax inquiry deletion? Credit expert deleted ALL of my inquiries for Experian. :)

Couple of notes... How are you challenging items with Credit Expert? I see a framed web page, but the view report sends the user outside Credit Expert to Experian's website.

I had 8 inquiries deleted from TU using online. I had them delete 4 inquiries by telephone around June 2001. Experian has deleted 6 inquiries from the last two years after I used their online investigation. Equifax will not delete at all. I've tried telephone, fax, looked at their on line and via certified mail. I've also complained to PF about them.

    Hope this helps.

I disputed 5 inquiries with Trans Union online using the method discussed here. I recevied the letter saying we don't remove these... contact the creditor...

Then when I received my updated report they had removed one.

So wait and see what your report says. I'm not happy with the refusal but since they removed one that is better than I thought it would be.

CreditExpert gives you the option of reviewing your credit report. When reviewing your credit report, if you click on a specific item, including inquiries, it gives you a "dispute" option. I have had great luck with this.

Actually, that is a frame from Experian. Credit Expert doesn't handle it.

To follow up, after recieving my TU letter stating that they do not delete inquiries, I called them. The pleasant phone rep told me that they deleted inquiries but not through the dispute process. I would have to present two letters, one from me contesting the inquiry, and one from the creditor retracting it as unauthorized. How many creditors actually will admit in writing that they accessed your credit profile in violation of the law? Catch 22 anyone?

    Lawsuit anybody?

Catch 22 ends once you get them into discovery.

TELL THEM IN YOUR LETTER...you did NOT apply with that company...
You did NOT apply TWICE, THREE TIMES in one month...
You do NOT do ANY business with that company...

This is my favorite for insurance companies...YOUR CREDIT REPORT HAS NO BARRING HOW YOU DRIVE!!! THEY CAN TELL HOW YOU DRIVE ONLY FROM THE DMV REPORT!!!

P.S. There is NO law that says you have to GET THE CREDIT CARD/LOAN COMPANIES PERMISSION TO REMOVE AN INQUIRY!!!
