I've searched around the board and cannot find the answer...
do utilities show up on a credit report? I've pulled my three at myfico and
did not see utilities anywhere on there, yet I have read people say that utilities are on there.
    What is the scoop?
I am in a budget agreement with ComEd and wonder if that will be on a mortgage brokers pull?

Depends upon the utility company. TXU (Texas Utilities - in Dallas) does report charged off accounts. From what I have seen on other sites, if the utility reports a balance, you can get them to change status to pays as agreed as you pay it off then you dispute it after it is paid and they don't respond, so bye-bye listing....

Anybody who is willing to pay the CRA reporting fee can report.

Utilities don't show up in Georgia on any of the bureau's. Neither do defaulted apartment rentals. I always thought utilities could not be placed on your reports.

Edit: apartment rentals have their own credit bureau. I have no idea what the name of it is. But they don't show on the 3 bureaus.

National Tenant Network provides tenant screening services to landlords. They keep information on tenants reported to them for up to 5 years. Their URL is http://www.ntnnet.com/index2.html

In Colorado, utilities show up via CA. So do Dr's (mine was via CA, but I think LB59 said it best - anybody willing to pay the CRA's can report)

Then, when I get under the bed, I think there's somebody on
top of it. Doc, you've gotta help me, I'm going crazy!"

"Just put yourself in my hands for two years," said the
psychiatrist. "Come to me three times a week, and I'll
    cure your fears."

    "How much do you charge?"

    "My fee is per visit."

"That's awfully expensive, Doc," reckoned Shakey. "Let
me sleep on it, and I'll get back to you."

Six months later, the doctor and Shakey crossed paths.

"Why didn't you ever come to see me again?" asked the
    psychiatrist.

"For a visit? Heck, a bartender cured me for !"

"How do you figure?" asked the psychiatrist.

"He told me to cut the legs off the bed!"

Don't think those who have utilities and rent items on their reports would agree.

This is interesting, right now I have a gas company, electric company, and cable company showing on my cr. Come to think of it, I think there is a phone bill on there too. And all of them are from Georgia. I did have the broken lease taken off in the first round of disputes.

I have had utilities show up on my credit report. They do impact your fico score. If at all possible, request a letter of deletion when paying off your account. I moved up 65 points on my fico just for clearing up the utility collections.

    Get the facts,

I work for a local utility company in Florida, we report defaulted accounts through a collection agency but will shortly start reporting ourselves with a CRA.

In Florida at least, utility companies can and do report. Virginia too since I had an old cable bill I completely forgot about reporting on me after we moved from there.

"ANY" COMPANY can report...MOST UTILITIES DON'T because of the FEES...and what benefit do they get if they do report???

Those utility companies that report are probably privately-owned and not public utilities like Georgia Power.

The rate of re-pay on charged-off account has dramatically increased since we began reporting. Seems with the rush to buy houses with low mortgages, people are told to pay off the balances to either increase scores or approval. That's the main benefit.
