I read here that they pull a credit report for cell phone contract. Does anyone know who they pull? Thanks in advance.

    Hi
I am in California and they pulled experian for me
Your credit rating affects how much of a deposit they will need

    Good luck

I'm not sure which report Verizon pulled in 1999 . They pulled my report and requested a $600 deposit. Then They pulled my husband's and requested a $500 deposit. Scores were probably about mid 500 at the time. We gave them $1000 for both phones. After one year Verizon returned the $1000 with interest. Hope this helps.

SprintPCS pulled Equifax for me, and required $100 deposit and I bought a $150 phone. My scores were around mid 500s at the time. Since then (12 months) they rolled the $100 into my bill, with interest.

Where you live matters, I'm in the tennessee region... in 2001, they pulled experian, when i added a second acct this summer, they pulled equifax. My score was high 500's, with an active collection account but no deposit was required, possibly because I was an established customer.

Thanks for the replies. I'm in New England and they probably pull TU, not sure though. Anyway, I ordered on-line everything I wanted from their website, then an agreement popped up and I checked it. After that - nothing. They didn't ask for an address, a credit card #, nothing! I just searched around the house for a number and I can't find one! Not even in the phone book! What kind of exposure is that?

PIMA - I sure as hell wouldn't give them a $600 deposit! What the hell is that all about? I can buy a brand new car and not have to deposit that much!

I don't know if they request such high deposits any more. The company was Bell Atlantic at the time. I considered prepaid plans but did the calculations and decided it was a better deal to pay the deposit. Just another reason to keep my credit scores high now. Back then I didn't think much about credit. ;(
