Possibly try the Orchard Bank as a credit builder?

Unfortunatly nobody seems to be pulling TU. TU was my strongest for a long time at 787. It took a while for EQ and EX to catchup.

I am also in MA. What are your other 2 scores like?

At 598 Orchard would approve you. I wonder if Providian/Washington Mutual has toughened up their credit standards since the acquisition? They might do so. Hitting 620+ will open many options. What does the rest of your report look like? Chargeoffs? Bankruptcy? Utilized credit > 30%? Those are 3 factors which will effect your approval as much as the bare FICO score standing by itself.

I applied for a Providian credit card last month in Virginia, they have an exclusive deal with TU and offer free TU credit scores with credit card accounts. I pulled all three credit reports today and looks like they only checked TU. Hope this helps!

With that in mind is there anyone that checks equifax exclusively?

Also look in this forum at the top section - there are posts that are marked "Sticky". Read the one called "Find Out: Which CRA is pulled"

I just got a Walmart card ( not discover) and they pulled TU. ( apply online)

My friend got a First Premier and they used TU also.

I am in the Mid-West, scores at the time were around 600.

It may depend on region. I moved from the north to the south and when I bought another car here in the south, I was told they use one of the 3 CRA's more than the other but I can't remember which is was - either EX or EQ. I think they tend use TU more in the northeast.

Ask car dealerships and banks if one CRA is used most often in your state. But then, specific stores may use something else anyway. cc's who are based out of another region may use something different than your area does. Maybe some cc's have some business partnership with one particular CRA. (I don't know if that happens, but a theory) Ask before applying.

I just got an Orchard Bank Gold Mastercard with a $500 limit and all 3 of my scores are below 600.

Trying2fix, did you apply online or did they send you an offer through mail?

Back in February of this year I applied for a First Premier card and was approved, and just found out today that I was approved for an Orchard Bank Gold Card, both I applied online with, not receiving offers. My scores are between 560-580.

    Good luck!
