    They almost always pull Equifax. You may want to double check depending on what state you live in.

    Okay Citibank masters (like George!)......I need advice. CMA --how did you double the accounts? Did you apply online at the same time? Did you have any new credit? Do you remember how many inq's you had? Did you have a lot of cl already?
    I got a citibiz ps card this spring so when I got the offer in the mail for personal platinum select I called to apply. Wanting to try the bdd I not long after went online to apply. Couldn't find silver so I applied for gold (that must be a toughie) and wasn't sure if it went through or not so I applied for diamond since I still couldn't find silver. Checked my credit and they indeed did only pull once that day. Saturday (always happens on a weekend) I get 2 responses. Gold denied (if you want a reason call us on monday) and Diamond denied for too many inq and too many credit obligations as compared to my income. I could not believe that because I have a very low debt to income ratio.
    Still nothing on ps. I call them this morning (on the 301#) and she said that they received the two online apps (in 60 days) first so they didn't even process the PS app and if they did now they'd have to pull credit! I told her to hold off and I asked about the Gold app. She says that they don't "see" my actual equifax but that they have set parameters and eq "fills in their blanks." (For example they don't care who your obligations are to.) She said there was a 30-day late in the last year and I have too many inqs. I explained what they were for (we refi'd, and only 3 of 12 were for revolving credit - one was for an au on a co card) and that I was looking at my eq as we spoke and there was NO(zero, zilch, zip) 30-day late in over 2 years. She said that if I wanted to FAX or mail in my EQ they could review it. At a 14.24% purch rate I think, I decided to cancel that app. and decide if I want to re-run the ps.
    Regarding the diamond and the *reasons* for denial listed above: once again, they do not seem to care WHAT any inqs are for, she said they count every one no matter if it's for work, or security system or a cell phone, which I think is ridiculous! Once I told her that the largest part of my revolving credit lines was my home equity line she acted like that would make all the difference in the world and she could put it back in for review right then. She said if I waited to see what happened with it maybe they could use the credit they pulled for that, for the ps.
    I called back later in the day and that person told me that it had already been denied again, "for the (non-existent!!!) delinquincy; new credit and too many inqs." So obviously faxing in something to PROVE that I do not have a 30 in the last year is worthless. That person stated that they like to see any new credit as at least 6 mos old to establish a payment history. When I got the citibiz ps (and I know it;s a different department) I had a new (less than 6 mos old) auto lease, mortgage and target card. Were they only looking for revolving and that wimpy $200 target card didn't worry them?
    Also that credit obligations in relation to stated income thing baffles me still. They won't tell you what threshold they want you under, but even if I had all my lines maxed out I am at a low debt to income ratio. My heloc is interest only. So when she said they'd not figure it into the 'picture' I figured I'd be ok, because some of my other new accounts weren't reporting yet and without the heloc my available lines weren't astronomical. I have excellent income, I'm starting to wonder if they got that right, but it sounds like the major reasons were inqs and new credit. Forget the rest. If the diamond was denied and they'd have to pull credit to deny my ps then it's probably silly to take the time to fax in a report for the gold? Wait it out and start over? Won't the "total credit" still be an issue?
    I am so disappointed because the ps was the one I really wanted (0% til 8/04) and it didn't even get processed, yet I wonder if it would have been approved at all either. I didn't know if I should try to run it in 60 days or so after I get some *b* and the others go off their system? My new accounts wouldn't be "old" enough possibly.
    I guess my question is ...is there any hope? The one woman told me that any more than 2 inqs is too much. (great) Everyone wants to check our credit for everything, and since eq cleaned me out it's been awhile since *b*. Those of you who apply for BDD every 60-120 days, you have new citi cards reporting so I guess they overlook their "own"??? What's the most inqs you've been approved with? Are there any lenders who are more lenient than others when it comes to inqs and new accounts? I have a LOT of new ones reporting right now. Strangely it doesn't seem to affect my score alot. I will keep you posted but so far with the ones that have I only dropped about 11 pts with inqs and new accounts on my fico. In fact when citi pulled my fico was in the low 690s I believe, so it wasn't a horrible score. Maybe biz cards (all?) are a lot more lenient with inqs and new credit?
    I am taking a break from this consumer credit stuff for now, need *b* and aging!) But I guess I feel like getting a citi (personal) and amex cards is proving something to myself after having them go bad a long, long time ago. This has been a very interesting process, watching patterns and so forth. Maybe I'll try those two again in 6 mos.
    I am more interested in building business credit which will be our main focus in the future. (For getting debt off my personal report) My dh, myself and our partner took turns this spring doing the pg for some biz cards and it worked ok. MBNA was the most generous, 20k last time I talked to them, but we still don't have the card in hand, the app. process was kind of a pain. I don't know what our chase limit is. Citi gave us 8kand Amex (5k). But Lowes (3k)/ Home Depot (3k)/ Office Depot (1k)/ Stapes (1k)/ Office max all gave us biz cards with no pg. For the future we are weighing Bank of America (online app looks scary); US BANk and Bank One Biz cards. I know the others will grow because we charge and pay off, charge and pay off. Do any biz visa/mc issue without a pg? Anyone have luck with this? It'd just be nice if they would spare us the inq!! I'm interested in seeing what comes in the mail in the future. {Note: "Yes sheep and will, I am reigned in. (Who loves ya baby??)"}
    Thanks for listening to my rambling frustrations. Any tips/tricks and techniques would be helpful. I appreciate your guidance and your willingness to share your experience. I know for the most part I just need patience. We've come a long road from where we were two years ago Praise the Lord! "Who'da thunk it?"

    WHOA! Please tell me your DH is the quiet one in the family <g>. In answer to "Who loves ya baby?" - Will and I do, AB. I'm puzzled about you not knowing your Chase limit. What's up with that?

    Re: Re: what is easiest citibank card to ge

    thanks for your help. Citibank pulled equifax for me in ohio which is what I did not want. My TU is 705 and my equifax is 626 although my disputes were all verified and robin hollands office is working on them if I can ever get through the dang fax machine that is always busy. anyway, I applied for the smart card(bad idea I was turned down) and after you replied that gold AA airline thingie card and they gave me $1600 which is not alot but consider how low my score is at least for the moment. I paid off and closed my household, merrick bank, and providian so there goes the annual fee cards. I kept the $400 toy card chase and the $5500 mbna goldpoints card. When I get the citibank is there anything else I should do? Should I call about a cl increase, apr reduction(is 14.24%), or anything else? thanks

    You know what- for some reason I think the silver card site was not working so I applied for the gold card(I think). Maybe I should go apply for the silver card now. What do you think. Also, some people said they call in to activate the card and get a double cl. Does this always work and do they pull another hard?

    TRANS UNION 705 is not necessarily higher than EQUIFAX 626...

    Unless they are BOTH "OFFICIAL" F.I.C.O. SCORES...
