What is up with Chase I-Card?

My husband was approved for the Chase I-Card. We called new accounts last week and the rep. informed us that it was a 9.99% fixed with a 2.99% BT for 6 months. I got the card today and there is no BT offer and the rate is 17.74%. I have a Providian account with a lower APR.

I called customer service and they were absolute dolts. I asked to speak to a supervisor and then asked to be transferred to retention. His response, not all cards have an associated retention department. I asked him if he knew what the word retention meant. Doh. I shouldn't have been rude like that but I'm pregnant and hormonal :D

So I came back here and found the # for the Special Dept. in Tampa. They are going to transfer the account to the regular Chase Platinum with a 9.99% BUT they have to forward it to 'Credit' for approval which takes 5-7business days. The rep. was also unable to tell me if they were going to do another Hard or use the CR pulled a few weeks ago with the initial app. He said that there was no way he could lower the APR on the I-card and that a transfer was my only option.

Does anyone have any experience with 'transferring' a Chase card to another? Is this typical of Chase customer service? I was happy because it is a Prime card but he just got a Citibank Platinum a month ago and that is also a 'prime' lender. I don't want to deal with Chase if this is the kind of business they do so I thought I'd check here with the experts.

    Thanks!

I was very friendly with the guy in Tampa, it was the main customer service line where I got a bit snippy (with the supervisor). The CSR in Tampa was very professional and helpful...I just wish I'd started there instead of trying the standard 800#.

    Thank you for your feedback.

Mr. Gator's correct. I'm a Chase customer, too, and if I want to discuss anything of significance I call the R number. CS is OK for fluffy stuff.

Suggestion: check your hormonal level BEFORE you call <g>. Good luck with the upcoming addition to the luscious family.

Thank you also Sheepshead. I really should know better about my hormones...everything started off pleasant enough though heh. I used to work in collections and as a CSR for Discover Card (years ago) so I'm usually a patient person as nothing is worse than having a cardmember call and be rude when your hands are tied.

I'm glad to hear that Chase's CS, overall, is good. I will be patient and call at the end of the week to hear about the conversion. :)

I'm glad to see you will hang in there give it a week, I think thats how long it took for mine and then call tampa and ask for a better apr tell them you were promised 7.9 or 6.9 upon conversion they will do something better than 9.9

I was REFUSED the oportunity to COMBINE VISA with M/C...they said I could combine VISA~VISA and M/C~M/C...so I CLOSED the M/C...THEY DIDN'T EVEN CARE...

But later I found out they put a FAKE 30 DAY LATE on that closed M/C so my VISA now has a JACKED "GO-TO" 16.24%...and I was DENIED the CHASE UNIVERSAL ENTERTAINMENT M/C because of the FAKE 30 DAY LATE...

When the 0.00% BT EXPIRES...THEY WILL EXPIRE!!!!

AS SOMEBODY HERE LONG AGO SAID ABOUT AMERICAN EXPRESS...THE SAME GOES FOR CHASE!!! WHEN AMERICAN EXPRESS IS GOOD IT IS REALLY GOOD...BUT WHEN THEY ARE BAD...THEY ARE REALLY, REALLY BAD!!!

WHEN CHASE IS GOOD IT IS REALLY GOOD...BUT WHEN THEY ARE BAD...THEY ARE REALLY, REALLY BAD!!!

Jeez, GEORGE. That gray cloud really does follow you around. I suppose you can become a masochist and REALLY enjoy your plights.

On another topic, have you considered a HELOC to build on an addition to your sock drawer?

Hey, Mr. G. Just tryin' to add my 2 cents on topics I actually know something about <g>. Haven't seen Amy around lately. I suppose she's really making good on her promise to chill.

Speaking of Chase, am I correct that they don't do instant approvals anymore if you apply online without an invitation? They did instants a while back but I think they stopped it.

My attitude is "give me the card and the line I want and don't ask me any questions." What's unreasonable about that?

I have been with Chase for two years. Never had a problem. They have been very professional when I have called or asked a question online.
In regards to the card conversion, I originally had the regular Chase Platinum. I converted it to the Freedom Platinum and most recently the Stockback Platinum. They did not pull a hard inquiry during either conversion. Hope this helps. Congrats on your upcoming family addition. :)

how did u get the stockback platinum? my rate is like a crappy 13.74% even tho my tu and exp scores are in the low-mid 700s. i called that 'special' number and was only able to get an extra $1,000 CL increase (to 4,500)...

they said that my rate is the lowest they can go for the stockback card, which sounds like bull because if u look on the webpage they even list a 12.74% for non chase banking accounts with 'elite preferred' or some terminology like that. (and like 11.74% if u have other accounts, and possibly lower if u get a good csr).

Chase pulled TWO hards today. Both of them were TU, any clue why they'd need two on the same day? Ugh. I should have just put the card in the sock drawer. He had no inquiries in the past year and now in a week he has 3 hards from the same company.

OK CALM DOWN AND CHECK THIS OUT SEND TU A CRRR TELLING THEM TWO INQS ARE DUPLICATES AND YOU WANT THEM DELEATED FROM YOUR REPORT THEY WILL DO THAT. sorry about the caps did not notice they were on and I am not gonna start over also are you sure the second two are hard what did you pull transunion or pg.

I'm actually calm today hehe. No problem with the CAPS, that happens to me quite often (my toddler swats at the keyboard and hits the lock key).

They were on a PG pull. Now that I go back and look at it, it doesn't specify if it was a hard or an AR. I'm new to PG so I'm trying to figure out their system.

Okay both were hard pulls according to TU. So now I just send them a CMRRR letter requesting that they remove both hard inquiries pulled today?
