CAR ADVERTISES 22 MPG I get 15 Next-door neighbor gets 25 You get 19 (ALL THE SAME EXACT CAR) YMMV I HAVE $100,000+ H/H INCOME F.I.C.O. 700+ 25+ YEARS I APPLY FOR A CARD I AM DENIED YOU HAVE $35,000+ H/H INCOME F.I.C.O. 625 7+ YEARS YOU APPLY FOR THE SAME CARD AND ARE APPROVED... YMMV
It's interesting that this online acronym came about because years ago every time you saw an ad for a car, not only was the gas mileage displayed prominently, it was usually one of the features of the ad. And in television or radio ads, there was always a fast-spoken disclaimer, "Your mileage may vary". I was thinking about it just now, and it occurred to me I haven't seen gas mileage even displayed on any car ad I've seen in the last few years. Has anyone else noticed this? Is it a regional thing?
Re: Re: Ymmv IT IS UNDER "PERFECT" CONDITIONS... No stop and go traffic...no flooring it...no rain...no snow...all green lights...no stop signs...30-40 MPH (CITY)...55-65 MPH (HIGHWAY)
Re: Re: Ymmv I know they are required to post it on the car's sticker, but you used to see companies advertise their fuel economy. Just an observation.
Re: Re: Ymmv After the MPG, it went to "you can go 400 miles on a tank of gas." Of course, they never said how big the gas tank was. That's what I always thought was funny. What do I care if I go 400 miles or 350 miles? I'm more worried about MPG. But I guess some were worried about range. I remember there was an ad for a luxury car--a Cadillac, I think. It was advertising 400 miles per tank. I said to my husband "I wonder how much room a 40 gallon tank takes?" I figured 10 MPG at 40 gal is 400 miles. So is 40 MPG at 10 gal. But they weren't talking MPG. only range.
