Ok, my getsmart has had a 0 balance for months but I was waiting til now to close it because it hits the 1 year mark in Nov., So I call Providian and they say my account is w/ Emerge(automated)....did they just close my account and how will it report??? So I call the number that I was instructed to call (never actually spoke to anyone there & was on hold for about 20min) I call Emerege...through the press this # crap I see my credit limit is now $125, ?????, now the Getsmart was only $500...but $125????? and the wait to talk to a live person was 18minutes...I had already waited for Providian and wasn't about to waist another 1/2 hour....has this happened to anyone else...I don't want that piece of crap card-just don't activate it or what???? And how will Providian report?? Is my account just closed???Closed by who??

I thought that accounts were being transferred with the same terms but they're pretty much screwing with all of us royally so I wouldn't be surprised.

I've been fuming myself because they closed my husbands at the SAME TIME they transferred it. I already posted that Providian says it won't say "closed by credit grantor" but "transferred to Emerge". How Emerge will report I've yet to find out.

I'm going to fight it big time if they try to say that since we asked what the heck was going on BEFORE this all happened and Providian Reps kept telling us "there's nothing wrong with your account, you should really keep it open to help your credit rebuilding, blah blah blah (really lies, lies, lies).

If anything I'll get it to show closed by consumer. I think no matter what, we're just going to have to fight with Emerge to get some kind of results.

Hang in there and call Emerge. I'm still trying to get through myself, I know it sucks big time, believe, me I'm hating this all myself.

My providian account was just closed with a 0 balance and no late pays ever and nothing was told to me on the phone except that providian closed over 200,000 accounts and if I want to find out why to write a letter. WTF?! Not a word about Emerge on the phone or when I log on to their web site.
I was only keeping the stupid account for credit utilization.
