A little twist on the "what's your favorite credit card?" post.

Thought it might be interesting to read about the one you most dislike - so we know who to look out for.

Personally - I don't have any cards I totally hate -got rid of those a few years ago (Providian, Nextcard - I was young and needed the money :)
but my leat favorite is a little known card called Elan Platinum Visa issued by Elan Financial which is actually a division of US Bank.

I never applied for them - they bought out the previous card issuer - SFNB Security First Network Bank - a great internet bank that went kaput unfortunately.

Elan Platinum Visa never did anything hideous to me - it's just that there aren't any perks and there are never any amazing offers. the cl is so so - 9.2K - they raised it from 8.2K 6 months after I had the card - but aside from that - nada.
Called up last week to see if they have any bt offers. The guy tells me - yes - we have a SPECIAL bt offer - get this - 8.9% for six months- and 3% transaction fee.
WOW - ain't that just dandy!
Their ongoing apr is also not so great - 11.24% I think.
I just keep it for the ratios.

Anyway - anybody else want to share?

My year old providian $300 card. No APR reduction, no annual fee reduction, no cl increase. I only have it still because it is my oldest card.

First Premier is the worst. Sign up fees, monthly fees, just for being you fees. Low limits. I have had the card for 2 years now and only a 700 CL.

I hate First Savings MC, a sub-prime joke

What a deal we will give you a $250 limit with no deposit, well we will charge you $149 processing fee, and an annual $59 fee, oh and less we forget we are going to whack you for $6 every month just to carry or POS card. Did I mention that we are gonna jack you for another $20 for a card for the Mrs. Leaving you a whopping $26 to charge your purchases! Now thatâ??s freedom! Oh yeah almost forgot after a year we will only charge you $25 for an insulting $100 CL increase.

I have paid more in fees than I will ever purchase with this card, but it's my second oldest card! So until I get a couple of good cards I will suffer with this junk card. If your credit sucks go to your local credit union or bank and get a secured card, at least they don't screw you in public!

    P.S.
This is the ugliest card I think I have ever see to boot!

I HATE the Chevron card. Now, the services were great, but I just can't STAND their new "voice responsive" automated 800#. I won't talk to a computer. So I closed it.

I also hated Providian and Capital One. I got my Providian card back in 1998, but I had to pay a $50 fee and 24.9% interest on a $500 limit card. My Capital One card was 19.9% interest, $200 limit, and a $3 monthly fee. Both cards are closed.

FCNB has to be the worst by far. Low credit line, high APR, high annual fee, almost non-existent cl increases and the worst customer service ever.

Sears Gold MasterCard - My Sears Plus was converted to this, I have never used it, but keep it open because it shows history from 1987 on. Interest is wayt to high 21%, low limit (5k), crappy BT offers.

BankofAmerica Gold card - High interest (18%)compared to my other cards, low credit line(5k). No interest rate decreases, no CL increases, no BT offers since opening account.

when I had decent credit, home depot was my crappiest card.
they flat out lost my payment several times, the checks just vanished. I refuse to believe the mailman could be that dumb, because my other payments got to everyone else.
they were the first place to put negative items on my credit reports as well, for those missed payments.
they would not remove the late notations..didnt really matter much because I went deadbeat on them shortly afterwards.
no, im not proud of it btw.

    Fleet Cash Dividend.

I worked so hard on my timing--moved my big ugly balance from MBNA to Discover, MBNA updated all CRs immediately, Discover had a while before they caught up.

The move spiked my scores like mad for a few weeks.

I got Amex Blue $8900 instant approval (way more than I expected--thanks Amex!). Then about an hour later, I put in for Fleet Platinum Cash Dividend card.

They pulled TU (Amex pulled EQ), got the "we'll call you," message. My TU score wasn't that much worse, same info both reports. Fleet sends me a $1700 classic card. (eww!)

What a lousy card, too, APR is like 19%, rewards are almost nil, that sucker was made for the sock drawer!

i got a Fleet fusion card about a year and a half ago - also very low cl - 2.5k i think - and even though i had 0% for six months - something about Fleet creeped me out.
Their customer services reps were kind of cold - and then I read some bad things about them - i dunno - just had a bad gut feeling about them - i closed the card 4 months after i got it - even tho i still had a couple of more months at 0%.

I will always hate Fleet, but that was my husband's card so I am not sure if that counts.

Out of mine I would probably say Discover (although they are not that bad) I like the lower BT offers they give to existing customers, but they are pretty bad when it comes to CL increases and hard inquiries. :(

My all time worst was First USA. When we had good credit they gave us a $30K line. A few months after we did balance transfers and had the balance up there (it was at 9.9) they jacked it up to 17.99 and wouldn't lower it.

I never in my life ever wanted to have to file for bankruptcy but I have to admit there was some level of satisfaction in knowing they had to eat it anyway.

I also wasn't crazy about Discover and still aren't. They jerk people around way too much. They're still reporting wrong on my bk and won't budge. They claim it's a "petition ch. 7/charge off" and I've requested it be changed to just included in bk.

I don't have the account any more but I was just STUPID STUPID STUPID. I loathe and dispise Cross Country Bank - the bank of thugs no doubt.

I'll spit on their front door anytime.

...and Capital One....I can't WAIT to put them in my "sock" drawer.

My "hall of fame" least favorite cards (no longer have them):
    -Fleet / "ski america" Visa
-Providian [lose payments & late fees]

Out of my current cards, First Premiere takes the cake. I asked for a break on the monthly participation fee & a C/L increase from the measly $450 I have now.

All they gave me was 3 months free ($15) off the crappy $60/year participation fee. Two weeks later I get a letter response from my C/L increase request: NO! Reason? According to the letter, my payments were low/at the minimum (Yeah, the freakin' $5/monthly fee!)

    Back to the sock drawer!

My least favorite is Capital one...My wife has a three year old card with 300 CL and never an increase (she now has Citi 5K and Fleet 9K) only reason keeping cap 1 is it is her oldest.

Next least favorite is Household, hate those (bleep).

Other than that, most have been decent.

Its a toss up between First USA and MBNA both of which would post my payments 10 days after I put them in the mail. Not only that but MBNA halved my CL the first time I paid a bill 15 days late. I cant blame them though, because when my finances went into the toilet I hated them so much that when I budgeted to pay bills if I ran out of money before they got paid I didn't care. They "earned" thier spot in the back of the pack as much as I "earned" my charge-off status.
