homestead property

Is homestead property exempt from negative credit reporting by the mortgage company? Case in question is I was having to make two housing payments for a few months due to failure of my home to sell. I was paying rent on the home where I am residing and the mortgage payment on the home I moved from. I paid the P&I only one month and the mortgage co. placed my payment in a "holding account" instead of posting it as a payment because it was not for the whole payment amount (all I didn't remit was the escrow). That started the problem. Then two months later I gave them a payment by phone, but when they attempted to run it through my account, it did not go. They tried to tell me that it was returned by the bank as "nonsufficient funds" which is a blatant lie because I called my bank and no attempt was ever made to post this check. I suspect that the mortgage co. used the wrong account and/or routing number. Because of the above, everything went from bad to worse and now my credit report shows payments >60 days late which is not good. What can I do about this? Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They never take it off the report when we make it right so why should we take it off the docket when they do?
