I have a recorded and documented incident where Feist Yellow Pages of Wichita, Ks broke into my computer network on 08/05/01 at 3:50:01 P.M.

I have contacted them by email and will be following up with then and their ISP provider too.

This is a definite criminal matter, and I'm gonna have me some fun with this one.

There are any number of things they could have been after.
When you are dealing with the types of information available on our systems, there is no telling.

Further investigation by my network security officer reaveals however that it was most likely not an official act by Feist nor anything that would have been condoned by them.

What is turning up is that it was most likely someone in their employment who was having his own brand of "fun" dinking around seeing what he could screw up.

Had it been an official act, they would have been looking through certain types of files. This hacker was busy seeing what he could screw up. It was a malicious attack, not the act of a corporate snooper. No major company like that would even think of such an attack even for competitive reasons and we are most assuredly not in any type of business that would be considered to be competitive to Feist, at least not that we know about.

That makes little difference however because Feist is corporately responsible for the security of it's systems and the actions of their employees.
