Let me just point out that in discussions about war and retaliation, we may find that viewpoints correlate with age. I hope not; I hope that Americans are virtually unanimous in wanting our country defended by any means necessary.

But in any war, young men do most of the fighting. Young men may not be as enthusiastic as others about a war in which they seem to take all the risks while others make the decisions. This happened before, during the Vietnam War.

I suggest that we try to head off this type of thinking by making it clear to anyone in the military, as well as to young men in general, that we respect military ideals, careers, and institutions. We could also point out that so far, civilians have borne the brunt of terrorism on U.S. soil. We all share the risks already, so we all need to help defend everyone, including ourselves but not limited to ourselves.

    Just something to think about.
Yes, I did use the spell checker. :)
