Hello again Creditnet, it's been 8 years. How have you been?

I was a regular on here and racked up about 200-300 posts in a year's time.
My situation was that I was deep in debt and was going to go into 7BK.
    But a funny thing happened...
One of the creditors (Bank of America of all the luck) decided it was going to make a settlement.
So rather than hurt my credit, wait years to get past the 7BK, etc, etc. I just settled with everyone.
    In all, my creditors were:
    Mbna America
    Bank of America
    Citibank
    Chase? I'm not sure
    Dillards
    And another creditor (forget who)
No medical debts, paid those off years before

My situation has changed and that's why I'm back again.
I also got sick of reading the stories of how collection agencies were scaring people.

CN helped me out a lot. Let me know that I as a customer/consumer had rights. And the collectors were purposely lying to me to force me to either drop all my accounts to pay them. Or declare bankruptcy.

Anyway, I'm back and hope to learn. A lot has happened since then. There's now facebook, twitter and all kinds of social networking stuff.

May your holidays be stress free and all things work out for you soon.

    Lionel-

When you were deciding to do the 7BK, were you behind on your payments? I would like to settle my debts without going the BK route also. I am not behind on any payments, but each month its getting harder and harder to make minimum payments.

Any advice regarding your experience is greatly appreciated.

I agree with you I would only use the chapter 7 bankruptcy as the last resort. Thanks! Heather with BoostMyScore.NET

Hi Lionel! Long time no "see"! It's been a long time for me as well and I agree with you! CN helped me immensely more than 10 years ago. I was able to buy my house 2 years post foreclosure due to this board and the invaluable information provided. Subsequently, I have gone on to empower friends and family - much the way this board did me all those years ago. Much has happened since I went on hiatus. I took a nice slide - yet again - because I got TOO much in debt. But the teaching never went away and I employed it to get my scores back up. I'm here to root on and chime in (where it makes sense). I didn't have as many posts as Lionel..lol. I think I benefitted more than I contributed.
