Dell Inspiron 2600 or Inspiron 2650

I have the 2600 with all that you mentioned above. I bought it for $1600 in July with XP Pro OS and a 3 year service contract.

I'm sure it is below $1300 by now.

Re: recommend a Laptop

I like www.half.com they have new computers and used.

The only down side is that the computers are already configured.

Today on Dell's main page, they have the 2650 C for 999, and you can configure it.

By the way, the nicest machine I have seen is the Dell 8200, but I won't even discuss the price ;-)

Good luck.....

Re: recommend a Laptop

Also, remember you aren't just buying a PC. You're "buying" tech support, which you will appreciate once you get the PC.

By far Dell wins hands down (and Apple, if you want a Mac). Gateway is okay and every other PC seller is terrible.

I bought a Dell basically b/c I knew I wanted reliable, decent tech support. And it has been excellent.

Re: recommend a Laptop

thanks for the info..I am looking more closely at Dell. The 2000 Inspirons are priced nicely but reviews are mixed so I may shell out the extra bucks for the 4000 series..

I wonder how Fujitsu does however the C-Series 2110 seems right up my alley..

Re: recommend a Laptop

Stay away from Fujitsu.... or FUSUXSU.... as we call them at our shop....

I work for a large reseller where we are an authorized distributor and service center for Compaq, HP, Dell, IBM, Fujitsu, and a few others...we're also a Microshaft premier member and specialize in Cisco and other high end infrastructure equipment...

Dell makes some great equipment....however they've had some problems with delivering product on time to large reselllers as of late....we're talking about several thousand pieces of equipment...etc...

But above all......get the best warranty you can get for the money no matter who the manufacturer is....

These new mobile P4's run extremely hot.....and are having some excessive failure rates at our shop...

....Good Luck!
