What good is a Discover card?

Never had a Discover card, never really knew where you can use them. They have a gas card I found thru creditnet, but I don't know if any gas stations take them? Never noticed. anyone have any comments?

Discover card can be used just like a VISA or MC in many and or all of the same places that take such.
So having a Discover is not a bad thing.

Be careful if you carry a balance. They use (or did, I guess they still do) 2-cycle billing. That more than eliminates any rebate you get.

i've had a discover card for a long time and have never had any problems using it at gas stations. most gas stations will accept discover if they accept visa/mc/ae. 2-cycle billing won't effect you much if you're using your credit card for gas purchases and will be charging to your card each month. i love the cash back the card offers, too!

2-cycle billing means the interest is based on the previous month's balance as well as the current balance. You can end up paying interest on something you've actually paid.

I don't remember all the computations right now.

I rather not deal with 2 - cycle billing. Discover cards are not worth it to me to carry one. I have mastercard and visa through my bank on a debt card so that is all that matters to me. I don't use credit cards any more just debt cards.

I pay at the pump with my Discover all the time and I've never had any issues from it not being accepted at any gas stations. I have been to a couple fast food places who didn't take Discover though.

Discover Gas Cards

Well, I just fell for it and was suckered by some Rewards Ad at a Shell Gas Station which I usually either pay with my Debit Card or my Master Card @9.9% no Reward points, but Thanks to some some scum bag Rep. Agent who led me to believe that a past BK7 in 2002 and perfect credit since would not hamper me not only turned me down but added another unnecessary inquiry in my file which I didn't need or want. All the information was discloslosed to him before going through with this he should have just told me up front I was not qualified and not screwed me!

I got approved today for one. They sent me a pre-approved letter.

Fico Scores as of today:
TU--682
Ex--703
EQ--690

All my bad credit fell off, so nothing but paid on time accounts. I have a federal tax lien that has since been paid also. that still shows up for 7 years.

I just got approved for a Discover More card and received it yesterday.

FYI, in the little terms book they send you, it tells you how to reject arbitration by sending them a rejection letter, but you have to do it in the first 30 days.

I'm going to send the letter to them tomorrow.
