If you owe several CA's money how many can garnish your wages? I've heard here only one can. Is that true or can all of them you owe money to garnish your wages? And what is the percentage of your take-home pay that they can garnish from your check?
in most states 25% is the max garnishable for accounts...and it's up to the judge to determine how much each agency gets as it depends on your wages and income information.
If ca 1 gets a wage garnishment on you then ca 2 must wait untill you pay off ca 1.This may take years depending on the amount you owe and how much they garnish from your weekly pay.If you have several ca's after you they will have to wait in line.In ny they can only garnish 10% of your take home pay. Some states like pa. do not allow wage garnishment to pay creditors. The more deductions that you can claim to shrink your take home pay the less they can garnish. Some debtors will quit there job and find a new one which will not make the ca happy.Remember for every action there is a reaction.
