I have a school loan that was sent collections, they gave me a number for the CA, I have called several times, every time I get a voicemail box, I leave my name and number, but they don't return my calls! I want to start paying this off, but I don't know what to do if they won't call me, they haven't even sent me a letter either. Also, since the original CA sold it to another CA shouldn't the balance on my credit report say 0 balance?

You may want to forget the CA entirely, since this is a student loan. Often, the school itself will deal with someone on a school loan. There is a good chance that the owed amount will be less dealing directly with the school, and they are less prone to reporting to the credit reporting agencies.

I suggest that you talk to the institution directly; again student loans are a bit different. You stand a good chance of better results dealing with the school.

I did try that, the school said they can't do anything since they already sent it to collections.

I am suprised that the school would not work with you on this, was this a traditional Federally backed student loan?

Have you tried registering with the U.S. Dept. of Education website for student loans? They list the status of every Federally backed student loan.

Also, if youhave sent written correspondence (I hope Certified Mail Return Receipt Requested), you are covering yourself for attempt to pay the debt.

Another point; I would talk to the school again, and tell them you're trying to pay this loan, but the CA will NOT communicate with you. I'm sure if you are persistent, you will find someone at the school who will help you with this special case.

    Good Luck
