My verizon home phone was turned off in mid january and instead turning back on I just decided not to have a home phone. so, they sent me a final bill of 128.50. I've been low on funds lately but i sent in a payment in mid feb for 20.00. better something than nothing at all...right? Then i get a notice in the mail from a collection agency with my bill. I called verizon and asked if this is already on my credit report as a collection and they said yes. I couldn't believe it. first, i WAS making payments and second, it was only a month or so since the phone was turned off. i think this is totally unfair. i could understand if i wasn't paying at all. can i do anything to get this off of my report besides dispute? i asked if they would do a pay to delete and they said no.
It's a valid tradeline and they are unlikely to remove it just because you now pay it after it was due. Regardless of making a payment, unless the full balance was paid, they can send you to collections and report the account as a collection account. More than likely it's an automated process on their end, after 30 days no payment it goes to a CA.
