On credit reports they generally X out the last 4 digits of the account numbers so that they look like this : 1234XXXX.
When I send a letter for validation, do I need to have the full account number included in the letter? It seems to me that supplying them with more information than I can draw from the credit report could be used against me. Thanks for your help.

you would only need to include the account number on the CR.

Am I to understand that if the credit report lists my account as exactly "266XXXX" then I should just include "266XXXX" in my dispute letter? Thanks for your help.
