OK, I just found this site today. Two weeks ago, I paid 3 small CA accounts for utilities (2 Comcast cable, and one other utility), all under $100. I disputed the accounts with all 3 CRA's with the reason that I had moved and never received a final bill from the OC's (and that the balances were wrong since I had just paid them). I got the results from Equifax first, and thought all was good when they told me the balances were zero and all notation of late payment had been removed. However, when I pulled my free MyFico trial score today, all three accounts had no negative TL's and had zero balances, but were still listed as negative items, I guess just because they were listed with CA's. I've been reading about Goodwill letters, but does it make sense to send to the OC's here, who don't show up on my reports at all? Or does it make sense to send a Goodwill to the CA's? I can't picture them having any Goodwill on a closed, paid account... Or is my best bet redisputing the accounts' inclusion on my credit report with the CRA's? Thanks!
Considering you received notice from the CRA that the account was removed, you could dispute as creditor agreed to remove.
Were the negative TLs from the collection agencies or the utility companies? I would target removal by disputes with all the CRAs, AND Goodwill Letters to both the CA and the utility companies. Hit ALL the bases.
I was told the derogatory information was removed but that the account remained. But then when I started on TC, I noticed that the account remained as a collection account, which can't be good. The OC's are not listed anywhere in my report. These actually were items for which I never received a bill after moving. The only reason I paid them was because I pulled my CR and saw them for the first time. I have another one that's a little bigger that I'm ready to pay ($280) with NCO for electric. Obviously I'll be demanding a PFD agreement with them, but what should I do about these others? As the poster above suggested - dispute with the CRA's and Goodwill to both the CA's and the OC's?
