I had to go shopping with my daughter for a b-day present for her friends party on sat, so I thought well I will go to Target to see if I could get a pre-approval.......... Oh my gosh, I got it!!!!!! I applied last week and got denied!
Does this card report to Credit Reports?
How long before they give CLI's?
When will they transfer to the VISA?

You helped me, now I can help you.

Yes, they do report to the CRA's.

No idea on the conversion to the regular VISA. My guess is never if you don't request, and when you do request, it'll be just like applying again.

As you know, I'm a newb, what's CLI? Haven't seen that one defined yet...

    CLI = credit line increase

I've had a Target red card for 2 years and my credit line has never gone up ($500 at opening).

Same experience here. They report, but almost 3 yrs later no increase. I don't use them a lot, but I do try to use it periodically in the hopes of a CLI - no luck yet, and I'm not in the position to ask for one and I'm fortunate to have other cards.

Yes Target reports regularly to all three CRA's.

I had my Target card for about 11 months and they automatically upgraded it to a visa and increased the CL from 200 to 1000.

I had my Target card for two years and no increase ($200 at opening) or a conversion to the Visa. I use it occasionally to see if I would get a increase but not the case. I even requested for a CLI and was denied but my CR wasn't pulled for the increase so I guess it's internal.

Congrats again heybreez.... you are raking them in!!! I just got my Target Card 3 months ago. I'll keep you posted on what happens.

Question- did you get an instant approval with WaMu online? I was thinking of applying for that one too.

I applied online fo the WaMu, they sent me a letter saying they needed me to call them to verify some info, I called she asked e a few questions then approved me, I was very suprised about that one.

How long does the Target take to report?
Did you have to use it to get it reporting?
    Thanks

I'm in VA and they pulled EQ. No clue on score requirements, but then, I bought something for cash and got a pre-approval on the receipt, so there might not be any score requirements. I mean, I was approved and I hadn't even applied yet...

    I'm in Va too!!
I think I will wait a bit and see how I do with the next round of disputes....I did apply online for the Crown Jewelers...and I was wondering if I should try for one more just to show limits and keep the utilization down low...ya know to raise points.

The Target re-approvals at the registar aren't based on credit. If you use the same debit or CC everytime you go there, they keep track of how much you shop there. I only shop there probally 6 times a year.

Okay so I got the card Nov 24 06. I used it the week before X-Mas. Showed up on all three reports in Jan 07. They report every month on the 24th for me now. I hope that helps.

I applied for the WaMu online and it seems that I have been declined:( thanks for the information anyway.

I went to Target tonite to pick up a few things... total was less than 20 bucks and I used my debit card as credit... the cashier said I was pre-approved and asked if I wanted to go ahead an apply... not wanting to face a decline I said no and she gave me the receipt with the approval code.. there is an 800 # on it so of course I called and asked ALL kinds of questions...
They do track whether or not you have used another cc or debit card but cash purchases also qual.. it's a matter of showing a photo id, answering a few simple quest.. and the CR is not pulled for score it's just to verify address.
I went back in the store and got my temp card...

I got a Target card mid Febuary the limit was 200. Equifax was pulled here in Tx. I used it the first week of March and it started reporting 2 weeks later on all 3 CRA's. I was very pleased.

I was thinking about applying just to help my credit but I don't really go to Target I can remember the last time I went there was around Halloween, and that was to get candy for the a party at my daughter's school, and the only reason why I went there was because it was closer than Walmart.

I don't know too many other places that I could qual for a pre-approval without considering credit score or a security deposit. My goal since I only have an auto loan, and Orch bank, to show more revoling lines but keep the ulitilization low... if I am understanding that is one of the mysteries that make up the score...so with a 200 CL if I spend more than 19 bucks I'm over the ulitilization.. even though I pay it in full every month.. never late on all three....

I had the Target Red Card for a few years when they upgraded me to a Visa. It just showed up in my mailbox, no request needed.

Target is excellent about giving CLI's. Just go to their website and there is an option to request one and they will do it on the spot. It's usually only 100 or 200 I forget which and you can do it every 3 or 4 months. I did it consistently for a couple years and then they switched me over. I believe my credit limit was about doubled for the Visa card.

The Visa card they have increased the credit limits pretty regularly on there own so I haven't had to request one in some time however it's been a good 6 months or so since the last one so I went ahead and did the online request and they increased it 750.00. I started out with a 200.00 credit limit Red Card and now have a 10,000.00 Visa. Of course this is over the course of about 6-7 years. Also I haven't had much luck with them lowering the interest. Some people have I know. I just don't carry a balance on it if I can help it

This is great news. I've only ever purchased from Target online using my debit card. I can't remember the last time I visited one of their physical stores. Maybe I should. Do any of you know if pre-approvals are offered with online purchases?

I've shopped Target online and in store many many many times, always using my debit card, never once got an approval or offer.

I went to target.com and applied for the red card and was approved instantly with a $500 limit.
