New Positive TL on EX, not mine...

On Truecredit this morning, I have a new cc account listed with Chase and a $372 balance, about 5 months of on-time payments, only on EX's report.

I've never had a Chase account in my life.

Do I dispute, or ride the coattails of someone else, lol?

Seriously, has anyone ever had this happen to them?

    Couple of possibilities:

    1) It is an old account of yours somehow picked up through a Chase merger

    2) It is not yours, and is close in name and/or SS#, posted incorrectly

    3) Someone opened an account in your name!

I would call Chase with the account number listed on the CR, and inquire about the account.

As for "riding the coattails", this could help you, but.....what if the account holder starts missing payments? I would definitely look into this.

Whoops, my bad. Disregard. Turns out it's my father's card and he's added me as an AU. Forgot to click on the More Details link.

It sounds great until there are missed payments or the card gets maxed out. Hopefully it's just number two on biz's list and I'd have it taken off ASAP. Please let us know what happens.

Still raises a good point. Don't ride on someone else's coat tails...they might burn you.

I assume you mean if it were in fact a mistake? I don't know what your family dynamic is like, but I'm about 100% sure my Father's not going to burn me. He's got around a 780 FICO score from all 3 CRB's, and never made more than $60,000 any year of his life and owns a house in NY on Long Island. Not like he's going to start being reckless with his credit at age 68.

Of course I mean if it was a mistake. I thought that was a given. I never meant to insult anyone's family.

I was simply stating that if you do have a mystery tradeline as you did and try to ride it out simply based on the fact that it was improving your score at the time, you could get burned down the road.

    P.S.
Not everyone is as lucky as you to be 100% sure about their family members not burning them. While I am certainly thankful you are, that's just not always the way the world turns.
