I have successfully managed my DW's credit especially with American Express for last year just not to repeat my blunders. Hope you find this story helpful and also you can provide me an advice at the end. First, here's how we managed our Amex cards. Account#1 Bluecash Initial CL at the time of application 3,000 (early last year) Online CLI requested about every three month to 5k->9k->13k through a span of a year. In the meanwhile, we made timely full payments each month except for once(1.5k~2k). Account#2 Hotelcard Applied for Hilton and approved online instantly. Original CL was 12k and upon activation online CLI was submitted and approved for 23k instantly. After all this, I came to realize I can break 25k CL limit through online reallocation. Right after bumping Bluecash to 24k, reallocated 23k+24k to 43k(Blue)+4k(Hilton) and this is where we stand right now. =) So far everything was almost flawless in my opinion especially when considering DW has less than 3 year credit history. Not a single time application was rejected. ----- Here are the things that I need help from you about. 1) Can she keep going up in CL on her newer card,SPG which now has 4k? Does she have to wait a certan period of time? Can she shoot for 25k again next month? 2) I have one charged-off AMEX account 3 years ago whereas my DWs' are spotless. =( Looks like AMEX has "Authorized Manager" and "Add someone to your account" distinctly where other compnies just say "Authorized User(AU)". I am of course an authorized manager but don't have cards. While I was trying to "Add myself to my DW's account", I found anybody with defaulted account history with AMEX can't be added and stopped the process. Is there a way that I can add myself to her account? -I am thinking maybe OASIS will help me sorta get rid of AMEX's internal history which in turn would make me eligible for adding myself. Or make AMEX drop the bad history through sending OC verification letter and other stuffs. Has anybody had any experiences on these? Thanks!!!!
Be forewarned that it has been said the over zealous use of the the CL re-allocation feature can prompt the dreaded "financial review." This is a tedious process for some (namely those who misstate the truth in regard to their income on applications). However, I don't think there is any real basis as to why AMEX chooses to FR some over others . . . it seems random. As for your other question, try OASIS.
Thanks for your feedback! I am aware of FR and will be careful with it. I will try OASIS but with OASIS I am afraid I might never be able to fight the baddies that I currently have with them.
You know what?.. I was actually inspired by a couple of threads that I traced back with apex and just gave it a shot for AU. I am approved and now have been added as an AU! Apparently they don't seem to care too much about my past defaulted account.
