I am using Lexington Law to clean-up my credit. I have one creditor that is reporting $1600+ for a bill that has been paid by medicare. They SAY that they are not reporting the item as unpaid, but I got me report recently and there is a derogatory from them. They say that there is nothing I can do but promised me a "$0 debt balance" letter 3 weeks ago and I requested again that they send one out and they agreed to. My question: How should I use this letter to get Transunion to remove the listing?
Have you disputed thru TU? Has TU notified you that the OC "verified"? If so, then what TU says was "verified" is what the OC is presumed to be reporting, regardless of what they say. Responding to your dispute thru TU WAS their opportunity to correct this, prior to becoming liable. Your position is that the OC is then liable for the error, so send them a copy of your report (redacted) showing their erroneous reporting, and demand that they remove it.
You can't use the letter to get TU to delete or change the account on the TU CR. Follow ontrack's advice and do a very simple dispute of the account with TU: Dear TU: This account is inaccurate, please delete it from my file. Thanks, Me Also, if you decide to follow their lead and get it showing as a paid account, you may want to look into the Nutcase letter on the sample letters section. My strong preference, though, is a simple dispute through the US Mails to TU.
It got removed by Lexington Law via there dispute. Apparently I thought they were disputing all the items on my account, but had missed this on in liu of some others
Lex Law has a distinct financial interest in doing things very, very, slowly....because the longer they take, the more money they get from their customers.
A wonderful article A wonderful article…. In my life, I have never seen a man be so selfless in helping others around him to get along and get working.
