I just printed out my TU & Exp fico score reports from 4/4. This is what it says about my Hard Inq

    Inquiries affecting your score

    TU - 3
    Exp - 4

    BUT

    My Exp CR - 9
My TU CR - 12 HI

    Why the difference?

For your FICO score, only inquiries within the past 12 months impact your score. The FICO will show only the ones effecting your score. The full posting on your direct reports will show all of the inquiries within the past 24 months.

OK, so what will the potential creditor see?

Not true, biz wiz. Creditors choose which FICO model they use, and some use a 6 month cut off for inquiries, and others use a 12 month cut off. None use any older than 12 months, but some ignore any inquiries older than 6 months.

My point was that full reports directly from the CRAs will show inquiries within the past 24 months. The traditional FICO model calculates on inquiries within the last 12 months.

Yes, there are different models tailored for industry requirements, but unless you know the specific model a lender will use, it is best to plan on 12 months. Also, a lender can do a direct pull of your report, and view a full 24 months.
