Does anyone have some timing information with regards to Experian and disputes? I have some items that I disputed in Feb 07' they came back verified and I have tried to dispute again, but I keep gettin msgs that it has already been verified as accurate by the creditor, and I will need to contact them for correction/info.
I can't get old address info deleted or I should say I have been unsuccessful.
I need to get a bit more aggressive with them as they are not responding and my patience is running thin with them and the responses to my disputes on the items and the old address info. Need a different approach or something
    Thanks everyone

They typically only allow two disputes per each tradeline. Sometimes they only go so far as to allow one per tradeline before they dispatch the "we have already verified the item with the furnisher" communication. It is illegal to do this under the FCRA insofar as they do not use the term "frivilous" and in light of Cushman but, they do it nonetheless . . .

Experian is a bona fide pita...

I had some accounts I disputed a couple of months ago (Feb 1st)and they quickly (within a week) said they were verified. I tried to re dispute them 35 days later and got the "previously investigated" jargon.

So I filed a FTC complaint on them (April 1st) for refusal to re investigate. I made a copy of the complaint and wrote out a letter asking Exp to re investigate and sent it CMRR.

2 weeks later they updated the accounts correctly.

Not saying you'll get results everytime but in this instance it worked for me.

I ain't done with them yet, just waiting to finish buying a house then I'll be back on them.

    Good luck!

To start, Experian is the toughest to deal with for these issues.

To start, focus on one category, (i.e address deletions). First, how old are these addresses. If they are within the last 2-3 years it will be difficult to remove, they will likely keep being verified from tradeline data furnishers. But, do the requests in writing, sent Certified Mail Return Receipt Requested. If they do not remove, send request in writing (CMRRR) for reason of retaining old information.

As for disputing strategies, it depends upon how you classified your first disputes. It is generally the best approach to start off as "Not Mine". Anything less and you are acknowledging the tradeline.

Any dispute that comes back "verified", to dispute again, you must get specific as to a detail, or add some "evidence" of the error. You have to build a case for the dispute, and evidence or documentation ties up their process. It also opens them up to legal recourse if they blindly verify again. Also, make sure you are putting in the language to delete if unable to verify. Per the FCRA, you must direct them to your desired action.

In the end, you have to work towards deletions done for the sake of violations of the FCRA (often in line with violations of the FDCPA). This becomes a strategy of "drawing the foul" where the OC/CA/CRA does not fully follow the legal process, and the deletion is done to escape legal action.

There are going to some tradelines that will always "stick", and short of a mistake in process and legal suit, will just not come off with traditional disputing. There is also a good amount of luck involved, your dispute happens to sit on the desk of someone until the last minute, and they just ignore or do not verify, etc.

If you want to post some details of your disputes and work to date, perhaps we can help.

If you insist on using online disputes with EXP you are bound not by the law, but by their online software, not the law.

Federal Law allows you to dispute any incorrect information on your reports.
Federal Law allows you to demand reinvestigation of that same information.
Federal Law allows you to a PR (Procedural Request) of that same information showing how it is verified.

If you write a letter in the US mails and specifically use the word " reinvestigate ", the EXP computer scanners which read your letters will pick up the word, as it is a keyword for the scanning software, and it will do a true reinvestigation of the account.

great responses everyone. I appreciate it.
I am specifically trying to get and old address removed that is slightly over 3 yrs old.
Attached to that is an incorrect name/ mispelling with is tied to a paid medical judgement, also attached to that address is the last BK or as EXP puts it "historical info, provided by public records or creditors"
TU and EQ deleted the old address info per my request.
