OK, based on what I've read here over the last few weeks, it sounds like some people are having trouble disputing inquiries from EX and TU, but I see a lot of posts indicating that getting them removed from EQ is easy. It just so happens to work out for me that my EQ is being killed by inquiries (24 in the last 2 years). Most of these are repeats and multiples from car and mortgage shopping, but they must be having an affect on my score since my EQ FICO, with a better report than EX (one paid collection missing from EQ, everything else the same), is 72 points lower than EX. So how do I get these removed? Do I just call them up and say I don't think they're mine? Even when they most likely are? (Can't tell on some because no real identifying info given, such as Factual Data etc.)
https://www.econsumer.equifax.com/consumer/sitepage.ehtml?forward=online_dispute If you enter your zip code and click on next, a link towards the top will say, if you dont have a confirmation/report number, click here. Click on that link fill out all the personal information and then instead of creditor name, put in the inquiry name, for account number put down the inquiry date, and reason, not mine. I have used this on a couple car loan inquiries and they were removed in a few days.
I went auto shopping for 2 weeks and unfortunately it was on a weekend and I wasn't smart enough to get a letter from my credit union with a pre-approved amount, and all the inquiries hit my CR. I disputed all the ones with EQ and they were all removed. I dont think they even verify anything as I got notice from them about 5-6 days later they were removed. Hence, why they are the worst at having accurate information, but easy to get rid of things.
Thanks c-man. Should I put all of them on, or only the ones that didn't result in a TL? __________________ TrueCredit FAKO's: There are some people who have reported having trouble with disputing an inquiry with EQ which is already reporting as a tl. It has not been an issue with me, but some people do not recommend it.
I have used this method with Equifax with some success. The only ones they refused to remove were tied to tradelines on the report. I have not bothered with Transunion or Experian because they seem to like to dump fraud alerts in your report for no reason at all. I am using a credit monitoring service to attempt to "b" inq off Transunion. If anyone ever finds out how to get rid of Experian inqs,I would love to know.
collectman's method works.. I tried it last week and the inquiries were removed from EQ in 3 to 4 days. lol If only Experian were that easy =(
I just disputed 41 inquiries via this method. I will reply if/when my inquiries are removed...wish me luck!
