I just received notification from Exp that the TWC collection for $66 was verified. I already sent two PFD letters and they have both gone unanswered? What is my next step?
If they have failed to respond they apparently wont take a PFD, your choices are pay it and let it show paid collection, or dont pay it and it remains outstanding.
My first question is can you pay this? (I don't want to assume). If so, you may want to call them, and see if you can reach a verbal agreement to remove for payment. I know there are many members who do not agree with this approach, but really, what do you have to lose? If they do "agree", then get a written confirmation, and be ready to pay on the call also. Running through the basics here, did you request validation on this debt? Did you respond within the 30 day window after receiving notice? How old is this account? Was this the first dispute with the CRAs? You may want to pay it, and then try disputing again. I don't know what your dispute reason was on this latest dispute, but a CA is very likely to verify an account that is not paid. For this amount, it may not be worth their time to verify, if it's paid. You will have to find another reason to dispute, and perhaps add some evidence. Paying it will at least bring closure to this issue, both procedurely and mentally. To pursue deletion, the next steps will have to be validation requests (but that will depend upon the time that has elapsed since first notice receipt), coupled with disputes to the CRAs. In short, you are looking for procedural violations to use to negotiate removal in exchange for not bringing legal action.
I can't remember when I got a notification from the CA, I know it has been a while. I do hav the money to pay this, it's a very small amount. So, you suggest I call the ca or the oc?
Before I disputed with the CRA I called the CA and they said that I would have to get an ok from the OC before they can so a PFD. I called TWC and they said I needed to contact the CA.
Why not use the westcap method and see if you can get a pfd through that way? It has worked a bunch of times that I know of.
Hmmm.....a Mexican standoff! I would call the CA and tell them you did speak to TWC, and they did not object to the PFD.....
Is it accurate? Was it unpaid due to a dispute over inaccurate billing? Did you dispute with Time Warner, did they claim to have fixed it, or did they just send it to collection?
