Hi All, Thanks for all of your input. I've got 20 negative tradelines - 11 of them are for parking tickets (individual). I didn't recognize them on my credit report so I called them and asked that they mail me the info - which they did. I want to delete as many of these tradelines as possible. From what I understand, I should do the following: 1) dispute all old addresses. 2) 0nce old addresses are removed, dispute each tradeline. Do i dispute them with the CRA or the CA? Did i screw myself by calling the CA and giving them my current address to send the info re: parking tickets? They're from 2000. What am i missing?
Wouldn't parking tickets have blocked your license or registration renewal? Are they legitimate? Can you verify their legitimacy directly with your Department of Motor Vehicles? Be aware that there have been cases where consumers paid tickets, a government subcontractor "lost" the records of payment (damaged computer files), and then just sent out new demands for payment on what were in many cases already paid tickets, several years later. It happened in California, a bunch of consumers complained, and a judge squashed it.
Have you tried it with them? Most agencies wont accept it, but never hurts to try it. If they accounts are reporting correctly to the CR, i.e. dates and balances, then you would have no valid reason to dispute it. If they dont accept it you can either pay them and they will be marked paid, or you can not pay them and let them sit on there showing unpaid.
