Well, I began the long journey and sent dispute letters to all three CRA'disputing about 5 tradelines and not mine.

I haven't heard from Equifax but this is what I received from the other two.

    TransUnion:

"Thank you for contacting TransUnion. Our goal is to maintain complete and accurate information on consumer credit reports. We have provided the infomation below in response to your request.

    Re: Verification Documents not Available

We store information in our records as it is supplied to us by creditors. When information is disputed, we are required to investigate and record the current status of the information. We do not provide dispute verification responses received from creditors. If you need to obtain documentation or written verification concerning your accounts, then please contact your creditors directly.

If you have any additional questions or concerns, please contact TransUnion at the address shown below ,etc etc."

What the heck does this letter even mean? I'm totally confused! What am I supposed to do now?

Experian said I didn't provide proof of identy. They request Name, mailing address, SSN, DOB, complete addresses for the last two years (what the heck!) copy of driver's license, and copy of a utility bill.

Well that's just fine and dandy but I already sent them all that info (except the addresses for the last two years, isn't that kind of a contradiction in terms.)a month ago when I sent a letter requesting all my old addresses be deleted.Which by the way I never heard squat about.

Do you have to send all this stuff every single time you write them?

I can see this is going to be a long uphill battle and I thought I did everything correctly per the information I've learned from this board.

Thanks for any and all responses. I'm not stopping, I'm ready to do whatever it takes, but what is that?

Ok, I don't know a whole lot but I will share a little of what I do know. I'm sure the pros will correct me if I am incorrect. /wink

How long ago did you dispute the TL's with TU? It sounds a little like a TU stall tactic. Did they send something saying the investigation was complete? Did you receive a updated credit report? If not I would wait, allow 35-45 days from the time you disputed for the investigation to be completed. If it has been that long already then I would dispute again citing that they failed to properly investigate your first dispute.

Experian is a major pita. When you disputed your old names and addys, how long ago was that? It usually takes a good 30-45 days and they should have sent you a written reponse to the request to remove old names/addys. (in my case they removed one and refused to remove the rest. /blah)

It's a good idea to await written confirmation of the old names/addys before beginning new disputes. It sounds as if they received the disputes before the name/addy disputes were finished processing.

You might want to send Exp a letter and state that you already provided proof of identity, or if you can stand it call them up.

I hope this helps a little, like I said I'm not real credit savvy but I have been at it for a bit. I've learned a little along the way.

    Good luck,
    Tegleg

    Re: Transunion

In the letter I received I think what they are saying is they investigated but won't give me the verification in writing, I have to contact the creditors for that info. Is this the norm? No I did not receive an updated credit report.

Yes, i got a reply from experian. They deleted a few but said the rest were reported by my creditors and would not remove. But the strange thing is, they added one! I am from Missouri and have never lived anywhere but here. And they have an address listed for me in Oklahoma!

    thanks for your reply.

    Next step?

Still waiting for someone to tell me my next step?

Since it's obvious TU isn't going to give me anything in writing about what they investigated do I just need to go ahead and dispute with the TL? How can I find out what the investigation results were?

I didn't get an updated CR so I don't want to dispute with a TL that by chance was deleted.

    I'm really confused here.

I need a little clarification here to perhaps help; did TU supply dispute results? It sounds like you were asking them for the evidence for the results of the investigation, not just the dispute results. What exactly did you request in your dispute to TU?

The CRAs do not provide the evidence of investigations, merely the results, (i.e. "verified, no change, deleted, updated"). They MUST provide you with the results of the dispute investigation, within the alloted times of the FCRA. If you do not receive the results within 30 days of their receipt of your dispute, then demand deletion by sending request (CMRRR).

As for exp and identity verification requested, this is normal and happens frequently. It also seems frequent that the original submitted paperwork gets "lost". Just submit the requested documents to continue your dispute.

I guess I'm confused. This is what they word for word:

"We store information in out records as it is supplied to us by creditors. When information is disputed, we are required to investigate and reocrd the current status of the information. We do not provide dispute verification responses received from creditors. If you need to obtain documentation or written verification concerning you accounts, then please contact your creditors directly"

What does that mean I need to do?

If you submitted a dispute, then you need to request in writing the result of their investigation; i.e is it verified or deleted? They are trying to say they will not provide the documentation verifying the results (as provided by the creditor.

The next step is to demand the results of the investigation form your dispute. State that if they do not have the verification from the creditor, then they must delete.

Thanks. Finally a straight answer. I didn't think the response they gave me was kosher. I will do what you say and let you know how it turns out.

I don't mind going through this long chain of events for a good outcome, just need to know what to do! I'm learning!
