How long are good accounts supposed to stay on the CR? I have a paid off car loan from 1995 that was deleted last month on EXP. However, they had a collection flagged for deletion on 5/07 that did not happen (I am referencing an EXP report from 8/06). What gives?

For "good" accounts, it is primarily up to the issuer (data furnisher). As a rule of thumb, if a "good" account becomes inactive, (like a paid auto loan), it continues reporting for up to ten years. Generally the CRAs will drop a good account after the ten years.

Sorry, I clicked too soon, before answering your second question!

Re: a collection scheduled for deletion in 5/07, it should have come off at the start of June 2007 (at the latest). If it is still showing, I would call Experian and question, and dispute on the phone for past reporting Statute Of Limitations.
