Can anyone tell me how to find out if asset acceptance llc is licensed in New Mexico for collections? I tried the New Mexico Financial Institutions web site and drew a blank.

Asset is pure scum. They are a JDB (junk debt buyer). I was able to fight them somehat successfully but I had to send many DV letters as well as file a complaint with the state attorney general's office in the state I live as well as the state where the Asset letter camer from (in my case it was Michigan). I've done ALOT of research on Asset and they are generally thought of as scumbags and usually cannot supply any type of proof of anything. Good luck

Dispute the tradelines through the credit reporting agencies as having an inaccurate account status and type. Mention there is no date of initial delinquency or major first delinquency and that the date of status is too recent. They usually come off.

If they verify the information, sue them under the state common law theory's of negligence, defamation, etc. Stay out of federal court and fight removal.
