I have an old account that was just mysteriously re-aged somehow - so it now shows as "8/2007" for last activity instead of about 5-6 years ago...and now I have some yahoos trying to contact me about it... I know this is illegal - but question is - what do I do next? Any pointers would be helpful...sorry if this is basic stuff but I'm having some trouble searching thru for answers...thnx
Let's go back to square one. What is your ultimate intent for this TL? Get it removed from the CR or get it to a 'paid/closed' status? If you are OK with 'paid/closed', then send the CRA a copy of an old CR with the TL on it, showing the original/correct DOLA. If you wish to have the TL removed (via CRA disputes or PFD), I would ignore the change in DOLA and follow the respective methods for each strategy.
It was was an old account - gone from the horizon and just aged to extinction I thought...so the re-aging seems to give them the opportunity to attack me anew - My preference is for it just to fade away like I thought instead of having it back on the table as if it were a new issue...If it's an old account not necessarily paid off but beyond SOL can I still get it removed?
I'd suggest that you dispute with the credit bureaus as being re-aged and if possible send a copy of an old credit report to prove it. The older the better. If that don't work then you may have to file a federal lawsuit against the party who put it there and maybe the credit bureau(s) too.
Help! It's happening again and again! Just checked Equifax and now 2 more old old accounts have been added as new! ("new account" from an old charge off) What's going on and why would thye start targeting me like this? There's been no activity for years and now for some reason it's open season - they'e re-aging these accounts, obviously so they can go after me...but it's totally illegal, right? Please help - best advice for quickest resolution...how do I stop them and what are the alternatives?
