Okay basically does anyone know of a good place to apply for a personal loan that works with folks with bad or damage credit. I am in need. I got caught up in the payday cycles and I have 3 out totaling about $1845 all together to pay them off. They were taken out for good reasons (cover overdrafts, mom hospitalization etc.) and at the time I didn't have any choice, but did not realize they were basically a financial death trap. I'm not losing about $600 a month in finance charge to the payday companies. I have applied at places like the credit union, citifinancial and american general finance but they have denied me because of my damage credit (delinquencies). Of course since so much money is going towards the payday, I was not able to keep up the smaller things like the credit card which has caused a 90 day delinquent on my credit. Everyone keeps saying even with damage credit you can get a loan. I can not afford to take my whole check and payoff the payday loan and I don't have a cosigner. So again does anyone know any legit personal loan places that specialize in working with bad or damage credit. Ive search all over and i keep running into payday loan sites and thats not what I need. If anyone has any suggestions, places, direct websites, please help me. I can not change what i've done to get in this position but I am trying to change to get out of it. I just need some help. I appreciate everyone's suggestions, advice, comments etc. Thanks
Does anyone know if prosper.com is still working? Was it a good thing or a bad thing? Sorry for your troubles...
I don't mean to be negative here, but per your description, you won't find a loan on terms you'd like/need. But, here are a couple of suggestions: 1) Negotiate a deal w/the payday loan service; they want their money, if you can negotiate freezing the finance charges and make a payback plan, I'd say this is your best bet. Before you do this, go through your personal finances and figure out exactly what you can do and can't. Don't make a promise that you cannot live up to. 2) Since January is only weeks away, do you anticipate an income tax refund? You probably could get a "loan" in January, at a decent rate, by doing a tax refund loan through a REPUTABLE tax service (H&R Block, etc.). This is a possibility to "pay off" the settlement above. 3) Look for loans through family, friends, your local church, your local social seervices, etc. These will not be found readily on the Internet, so some legwork is required. Openly explain your situation, you may get lucky.
I used prosper.com and have nothing but good things to say about them. There's a lot of listings on there for people trying to get out of the payday loan cycle. It's free to try, so good luck!
