I've been searcing the threads and can't seem to find any information so figured I'd post a new one.

Does anyone have a strategy to try for getting a tradeline from an OC listed as a charge off removed?

tried disputing and only worked on EQ.

how badly does a charge off effect your FICO? Does age of account mater?

The older it is, the less effect it has on your FICO.

Try a FACTA dispute directly with the OC.

It is a good tactic and can lead to a potential FCRA claim if they fail to mark the account as being in dispute.

You may also consider attacking the date of major first delinquency, status, account history or anything which is absent via the credit reporting agencies once more.

I wouldn't make a FACTA dispute with the OC if the account is really yours. Always remember the Law of Unintended Consequences when disputing anything. Make sure you are never dishonest, as it can come back to bite you hard.

If the account is really not yours, then by all means, dispute the hell out of it.

A FACTA dispute can be done without using "not mine" approach.

make them prove the information they are reporting.

That is the crux . . . as Enigma stated.
