inquiry question

    Given the expertise of this site, how many points in your opinion does a hard inquiry lower a credit score? Also when inquiries go off a report does it increase youre score or enable it to rise faster over time. just wondering.

    There is no "hard" answer, but a rule of thumb is that one hard inquiry would cost about 5 points (maximum).

    The impact lessens over a one year period, and FICO only counts hard inquiries made within one year.
