Does Midland Credit operate under another name in nevada? i looked on the Nevada AG's website and could not find their name in the currently licensed collection agencies. I had a debt with midland in 2005 and paid it off but they keep messing with my reports so i need to know.

If they are not licensed in your state then that would be a violation of the FDCPA and your state laws.

thta's what i'm trying to find out. I don't see their respective name on the above mentioned link. If anyone know if they operate under a different name let me know.

They keep verifying accounts as not only open but 120 days late as well. It's really hurting my score. I sent one more batch of letters to the CRA"S with detailed grievances as i was ignored 3 times by Midland and on standard disputes. We'll see, but if they leave it the same i'm gonna have to sue and at this point deletion won't be enough.

If they operate under a different name, they should report under that name.

They are reporting under a name that isn't licensed, therefore they are not licensed. Or so it seems. You may want to call the office of the Secretary of State for Nevada and check.

now if they aren't even licensed in nevada how could i swing that to benefit me? i already paid them but they still verify incorrect information. i.e. they have it as 120 days late but verify and they dont respond to my letters. also could i lean on the OC for using unlicensed CA's?

What Can I do If CA is not licensed and I already paid

Apparently Midland Credit is not licensed in Nevada and is still reporting incorrect info on my reports. I already paid them though. now if they aren't even licensed in nevada how could i swing that to benefit me? i already paid them but they still verify incorrect information. i.e. they have it as 120 days late but verify and they dont respond to my letters. also could i lean on the OC for using unlicensed CA's?

Does it matter what names they have if it's indeed Midland showing up? I know they used to be Encore, but even if Encore is licensed in your state, Midland should be listed as a subsidary or whatever as long as it is Midland doing the verifying.

Also they are doing this to me. Verifying accounts and ignoring all my DV's.

MCM, Encore, whoever under that listing, etc., usually requires an "in" or civil litigation. Sorry for the bad news but, it is true nonetheless. They just don't care about federal and state regulations insofar as their business model accounts for the occasion civil action.

From personal experience, Midland does not care about being sued either.

BTW - Encore owns Midland. Encore admitted to that in a deposition.
