I sent dv letter to CMI regarding an old Comcast $52 bill last July, they asked me to prove to them that the info they are reporting to the cra is not mine.I sent a second dv letter last month. They send me a letter stating the same thing.

    Here's what their letter says:

    Dear p xxxxxxx

Our office is in receipt of your response to our validation. As previously advised if the information is incorrect, please provide documentation so the matter may be researched. Please forward a copy to our Account Resolution Department at the following address:

    Account Resolution Dept
    Credit Management, LP
    4200 International Parkway
    Carrollton, TX 75007

This account will remain a valid debt and /or paid collection account until the requested information is received.

    Sincerly,

    Randel Phelps
    Director of collections

    RP/ca

I do not understand this.Shouldn't they be the one providing me documents instead of me providing them. Can they do that?.

    UPDATE

    2/02/2008

On Jan 22,2008 I filed complaints with Texas AG, Texas local BBB, my state AG office, my state Div of Banks, FTC.I ordered a trimerge copy of my credit report yesterday,CMI was gone on all three. They caved big time.I believe if you use the resources available to you,you document everything, every violation, you should prevail.A big thanks to all of you

They're supposed to - they have the account. Probably too lazy to find the information. You don't have to validate anything - they are supposed to validate.

Have you disputed it with the CRA's yet?

    If not, you need to.

Send them a summons suing them for violating the FDCPA: continued collection activities without validation. That should get someone's attention.

Sue them. They're a nasty outfit. I'd throw in a few FCRA counts if you've been damaged.

Yes but, you may be able to find one on a contingency basis. Check out NACA.
